Best oil extractor?

Never used one.... simply quoting what it says on the box...... which stopped my mate from buying one.

From the website.

Here are some specifications for the Ultimate Speed 12v UOP 12 C1 car oil pump:
  • Power: Works on a 12V car battery
  • Oil flow: Drains engine oil at a rate of approximately 0.2 liters per minute
  • Temperature: Can handle temperatures of up to 60°C
  • Purpose: Can drain engine oil, diesel, and fuel oil
My oil comes out at 90 degrees , that's just h&s bollox , saying 60.

I used a Lidl one for my first time and it took under 30 mins to take 7 litres out. Took car for a run and then left it for 30 minds so oil warm. Top Tip: Pop the hoses in a sink of hot water first so they get flexible
Good advice, I find with the Lidl / Aldi ones, they work fine, but you always need a spare. The grandson was in the workshop today (something he discovered since he got his own car....) and I had a Lidl/Aldi electric pump that had stopped. Neither is it the first one!! Anyway, the grandson is studying electric engineering, so I got him to have a look at the it. It was the on/off switch. So, if you have one of two thrown around, check the switch before binning it. I've always found them very useful for draining any kind of liquids..and for less than 20€ you will get your money's worth.

I blew the fuse on mine , I hooked it up to the jump start pegs and started the engine , must of sent charge the other way . It's inside if it ever happens. 👍

I bought one and used it, it worked fine. A year later when I tried to use it for the second time it refused to switch on.
The pela type pump I also have has worked every year for 15 years without fail.

This is the exact reason I've decided to go for a Pela for hobby use. When I want it, time of the job isn't a limiting factor but it must work, otherwise it puts me in a less than ideal situation.

The 60 Deg C limitation of the Lidl pump may be for safety reasons. I don't believe I've ever extracted oil at the full operating temperature of 90 -100 Deg C and would consider it potentially dangerous in the even of accidental spillage. It's an unnecessary risk when oil flows perfectly well enough at 60 Deg C.

You mean you by-passed pump switch, and used leads direct from the battery to the pump to start it? In my case, it definitely was the switch. So now, I'll extend the leads from the switch to the electric motor on the pump and fit an independent switch. In any case I have a Draper pump which can be operated manually, or I can connect it to the compressor. Anyway, at least every 2nd or 3rd drain, I'll use the plug.

See my post about the switch having a limited lifespan in the Aldi / Lidl 12 V pumps.

An old thread I know, but with the cheap Mannol 20L oil thread and an increase in annual mileage, I need to move to 6 monthly oil changes.

On the basis of all @W1ghty's Pela 'action shots', plus not having to faff around with power and questionable longevity from a proportion of the Lidl and Aldi pumps, I've gone for a Pela 6000.
I found one new but damaged box on Amazon for £38 delivered.

I've only ever done sump plug oil changes, so this is going to be living the dream!
So after getting myself all excited about a Thursday night oil change, and having to cancel the 20L of Mannol from Amazon due to an unannounced 2 month increase to the shipping time so buying oil from Merc instead (arriving today), I now get a notification that there's a problem with the Pela I've ordered and it's not been shipped. Given that this was a bargain single open box item and not from general stock, I'm not feeling too hopeful 😔

Get under the car and change your oil like a man!!! 😄
Joking apart getting under there with the cover off give you a chance to check for oil leaks, damage, suspension issues, rust etc etc....

It's a fair challenge, but I was hoping to squeeze an oil change in from 8pm on Thursday night outside on the drive.
This was something I was slightly looking forward to with the Pela. Crawling around trying to reach screws and bolts under the car and refit undertrays in the dark is always a pain, and I wanted to get the oil done before a long trip away. I might be able to squeeze one in on Friday morning old school drain plug out 😄

We don't have real winter down here in the Saaf!

I have the Lidl pump, which has been fine so far. Their stuff is normally pretty decent ... AFAIK all their tools etc. are TÜV tested & certified.

I actually bought it to change the gearbox oil on my flail mower - accessing the drain plug on that involves taking the PTO shaft and safety guard off, which is not a 5 minute job. I've also used it to drain diesel after over-filling my tractor's tank
