Billy's W124 Coupe Project

i'm actually also looking to do a facelift on it too
since if you've seen my pic, that the car is pre-facelift

I'd forget the ecu and wiring harness, and go for a standalone ecu with a 5 speed manual getrag gearbox.

No further updates as yet mate, Carat I believe is installing my M111 into another 124 this week.

Glad the engine is being put to good use.

Billy, hows your build going???

Billys old engine has gone to a good home, it's up and running in a 220 soft top. Just having to put right the previous "repairs" made by a cowboy bodyshop.

I'm talking woodscrews!!!

Expect an update on Billys car very soon, I've got some nice fresh shiny parts for it.:thumb:

i like where youre going...

but i still want to keep it a daily driver in hong kong... which is a terrible place to drive a manual. and annual inspections are very strict

and if i was still in San francisco... I would've done it already

Hi Billy, any piccies of the back box fitted? How much more noisy is it? I've got both a NOS Lorinser and a used Remus but am at pains to cut the original exhaust up as its still the original one piece cat back factory fitted item! Don't want either to be noisy and mess up the refinement of the coupe but as they are both made by Sebring/ Remus I know they should sound similar to yours.

I've taken a couple of pics on my Blackberry in the early stages. i'll upload them.

With regards to noise, well thats TBC as last time i was up at the yard, the box wasnt connected up.

I've always been worried that the back box is going to sound too 'boy racer ish' but both Dash and Carat have given their 100% backing that it will sound ace, and not your local Saxo. Isnt that right chaps? :thumb:

My main concern is at cruising speed, dont want to hear a constant drone.

Sebring back box

Here are a couple of pics of the box fitted.

The box isn't in its fixed position yet as i'd like to fine tune its final resting position which will involve a little modification to the rear bumper cut out. But the box wouldn't be much different to what is seen in these pics.

Looking very nice as it is currently..

Just one thing, when the AMG Gen II kit comes on (not in this phase) i'll have problems. I'm not certain these round tips are going to match the kit. I have AMG tips that I can weld on put on but the box is too nice to chop up!

The exhaust is fully connected now, sounds ace. It's got that straight 6 "howl" about it now.

Good stuff, thanks for the update! Need to hear this Grrrrhowl!

In that first pic, you can just make out the tehnical consultation going on infront of the car. Our suspension advisor must be worrying too much as his hair seems to be dissapearing! :p

Thanks Billy for the piccies, looks great :thumb:

Let us know how the noise is on a cruise in due corse. Like yourself , my Lorinser back box is brand new and looks way to good to cut up, but I also have a C36 back box that I bought for the tips! So many exhausts and bits and still scared to cut up the original exhaust
