Billy's W124 Coupe Project

So the new brake flexi lines have finally arrived, should smarten things up behind the wheels. Stainless steel fittings, stainless steel braided hose, clear pvc covers.

Certainly will compliment the yellow Bilsteins!

I've heard mixed reviews about them. Some say brake pedal is firmer, less spongy, others that they lost the ''feel'' of the pedal. Tell us what you think once it's ready. :thumb:

I used to have them on my old 300e, the pedal was firmer than before but not excessive. I'll be sure to report back once they are fitted though.

I tell you what mate, I was very suprised by those, last thing I expected to find! Lol. :D

I'm not sure Billy will feel the firmness with his choice of shoe wear

mazza

I cant work out how he could drive the car in those, let alone feel a change in brake pressure.

I think I better dig out my camera. :thumb:

I wonder if it was hand made a la AMG...any names on it mate?

Couldn't see any names on them, but they are a size 8. Billy say's he dosent know how they got there, but I think we know the truth here....

The pink shimmer lip gloss sort of confirmed it. :D

Bahahahahaaaaa!

Did they look like these? As much as I want to say it's my Mrs heels found in my coupe, you might want to check with either of your women at home that they aren't missing any pairs of shoes...

I thought so mate, they are your size after all

It's alive!

Anyway enough about Billy's fashion statement, time for an update.

Yesterday I swaped out the old 220 engine and gearbox looms, and fitted the 320 looms in their place. The engine loom isnt that bad to do as it's mostly under the bonnet, the gearbox loom is a much larger job needing a some of the interior trim removing.

It was during stripping the interior out that Billy's footwear was discovered, but we'll get back to that later.;)

Today whilst the inside of the car is apart, I have fitted the loom and ecu for the cruise control. The ecu is now mounted in the passenger footwell next to the red airbag plug, and I'll be fitting the control stalk tomorrow. Whilst Billy was visiting today we've decided to fit an electricly adjustable steering colum, and run the wiring looms in preporation for the heated memory seats.

So with the engine wiring finished it was time to go for a start up. With the fuel pump relay removed and the coils unpluged, the engine was cranked over on the starter a few times till the oil pressure showed 1 bar on the gauge. Now with the coils and relay re-connected, she fired up on the fiest turn of the key. Epic.

The plan is to run the engine for an hour tomorrow, in order to bleed the cooling system of air and let the flushing oil work it's way around the engine. Then drop the oil and filter, and replace with a new filter and good old castrol engine oil.

That's all for today folks.

Great Job Carat,...Just a bit of trim removal then!

No but seriously it's comming on very nicely indeed.

I will be reading your thread with great interest, especially where the retro fitting of the cruise is concerned, much easier to set up on the engine when it is out of the car I’m sure.

Please don’t skimp on detail, especially regarding where you choose to run the loom for the cruise control and if the Hall effect sensor is fitted to the speedo.

I still haven’t progressed any further with mine as my attentions have been focused elsewhere to date.

Regards, R.

Carat, are you able to elaborate on the running of the loom for Rigel please mate..
