Pierpp, not much hassle, it was fairly smooth, though it was initially suggested that I allow them to fix it, but I had just lost the confidence, and would not have been able to drive the car knowing that its not reliable.

It may have changed, but I was told some time ago that Enterprise were to
a) Supply same model
b) if not available supply another MB
c) supply hire car
I think MB own the cars, and Enterprise manage the fleet.
I would think though that given the number if cars that seem to be off the road they may be struggling with fleet numbers.
Yes, oddly I was told the same thing, current cars breaking down are being priorotised over cars that broke down weeks ago.Now I wouldnt be happy if I had already been waiting 3 weeks for a repair and somone else "jumps the queue" and gets his car repaired in and out in a day, it would surely just push back everyone else?I was told the same. MB breakdown service told me that Enterprise were obliged to provide me with a Merc if possible and this was confirmed by Enterprise themselves saying that they didn't have one but would provide one soonest. It was almost a week before they could source a Merc for me but I was phoning them regularly so that the (polite) pester power would wear them down........
Mine broke down on 11th feb and today they said at least another week. Also, did you know that the dealer is obliged to put these repairs at the front of the queue when the parts are received and complete within 24 hrs. They have told me that twice.

I got my C250 CDI at the end of October. I had done around 5,000 miles on it when the injectors packed up on 2nd February. I still haven't got the car back yet but I would say that in general the service that I have received has been good. MB care was quick to arrange recovery and a replacement vehicle (the loan car was delivered to a customer’s premises where I was attending an appointment).
Yes I am disappointed that the car broke down (its 20 years since a car has left me stranded) but I really love the torque of the 250CDI engine and the C class in general. Let’s face it things go wrong from time to time and I am willing to give MB a second chance. I may feel differently if it breaks down again but for the time being it hasn’t put me off the C class.
Got a call today saying the car could be collected (some 5 weeks after it failed!). I will be picking it up in the morning and I can't wait to get it back.
It's made me realise what a great engine the 250 is. My first loaner from Enterprise was an E220 which was suprisingly quick for a car of this size but this was replaced (it needed a service) with a C180 Kompressor and boy do I miss the torque of the the 250.
Anyway, lets hope the new injectors have done the trick and I don't get a repeat failure. Fingers crossed.
Well done and good luck, please let us know if it feels any beter to drive or of you notice a difference in the fuel economy now you have thr new injectors. If you can, can you also have a look and see if they ahve replaced them with injectors beginning with 10?Got a call today saying the car could be collected (some 5 weeks after it failed!). Is there anyway of checking what version of the injectors you have??
yes...lift up the bonnet and the black plastic covering, it just clips off. you will see the 4injectors in front of you, they are long numbers beginning with either 10 or 09. If the 1st five numbers are greater than 09339 then you are in the clear, any lower, chances that are from a bad batch. I checked mine and they were 09148 and 3 days later they failed....You've got 45 pages of it, but I think it is in this thread somewhere. I just did a quick search but couldn't find it - something to do with the first number on the ID for the injector as I recall. I'll have a look this afternoon when I have a bit more time. Hope that helps

yes and no. They have been very good thoughPierpp, did the dealer get back to you with an answer for your rejection ?
Hi Simon, Its seems a shame that even a brand spanking new 10 plate MB BE is not new enough to instill confidence in the guys that sold it to you. You see, the car may be registered brand new but could have been sitting in a compound in Germany for many months before it became your pride and joy and thats probably why they ahve no idea as to how old the injectors on it are.Had a long lunch and decided to visit MB dealers in Leeds and Wakefield to ask about the injector problems and enquire whether my 10 plate 250CDI would be affected. Basically, the service managers were non-commital at both locations. They could give no guarantees but felt the latest cars being released should be OK. They also said that you could not identify the version of the injectors from any serial numbers and stated that the 09*** and 10*** serial numbers indicating manufacture date was also a myth.
It definitely felt like both were following a party line and keeping tight lipped. When I said that having just acquired a £35k plus luxury car to be given no confidence whether it would breakdown or not I got a shrug of the shoulders from the guy at Wakefield - very helpful (not!). At least the guy at Leeds was a bit more understanding and empathetic so think will use them for servicing etc.
