Hi Will,

I get on well with MB in Colchester lol, Its was £124.31 inc vat with the pipes and seals.

And yes i Spreedsheet everything including the mileage etc, Baring in Mind i do over service my vehicles as Parts is my Business.

Currently Brutus Stands me in at £5k in repairs and fettle with the Rad aswel lol, But this is with me doing all the work and trade discount and Every nut bolt and washer.

Well thats the New windscreen in, And wow makes so much difference to the feel even if it is all in the mind lol,

Excess was £84.75 inc vat went with Autoglass who kept in contact throughout the booking and fitting and treated the car with respect.

Colchester MB guys are a good bunch

Daniel the parts manager and Jon the service manager are top blokes

not sure of the sales guys tho as they were never seemed interested when I was looking for my E55 many moons ago.

merc85,

I've read your entire thread and I'm hooked! Over the next few weeks I will be looking at buying a E55 for myself. Hopefully!

Thank you Sir and good luck with your journey.

Here we go again !!

Here we go again, And what a Pitta of a job, Main reason for the Rad change as its the Original Valeo unit, Also the pipes were suffering from what i call w210 lightess lol

There were a tad crispy! Obviously the Pipes were Replaced with Genuine Mb parts, These came fitted with new O rings, The radiator was from Ecp.

It took around 3hrs to do the radiator and bleed up, Auto pipes were the cause of agro, these were a struggle to seal and kept leaking under pressure.

The trick is to get them hot then tighten them up! We did have the bottom atf hose blow out i dont think this was sercure properly and moved when we were trying to tighten the Unions, It caused a loss of around 4-5 ltrs of atf very very quickly! Lucky enough this was on the test drive back and only around a 1,000 yards from home when it went! phew!!

The set back sealing them and topping the atf back up plus test drive took another 2 hours. :/ I've had easier jobs doh.

This is what the old rad looked like.

Good work Gav.

You've just reminded me about one of the reasons why I don't do mechanics myself these days!

It's nice watching someone else do it - probably why I like Wheeler Dealers... :D
