Hi All

i have just replaced the high pressure fuel pump hoses and am having issues!! initially i put the lifter pump hoses back on the wrong way round and ran it for a while (10mins). Now ive repositioned them correctly and cant see any air in the fuel lines but it wont fire?
The car has just below ¼ tank of fuel in it, is this enough?
Help please.......

Cheers

Rich

I assume you mean you 'repositioned' the hoses the wrong way round prior to running the engine for 10 minutes?

You need to crank the engine for what seems like an eternity for the fuel system to self bleed after you've re-connected any fuel pipes, etc.

Hi Panason1c

yep all hoses now correctly positioned.
ive tryed turning the car over numerous times untill the batteery went flat, yesterday.
been out this morning, in the pooring rain, and tryed jumping the car off my wifes. still no joy...
How long do i need to turn the car over?
was concerned turning it over for a long period may be an issue?
and do i need more fuel in the car?

Many thanks

Rich

Sounds like you dont have a perfect seal at the fuel pump connections, i would remove and refit the fuel pump connections checking that the 0 rings haven't been damaged in the process.
New 0 rings are available from MB.

circa 1/4 tank of fuel is more than enough.

ps.........after repositioning the pipes.........is it possible that you've refitted them the wrong way round?

ok will try and check them later.
would i see air in the fuel lines if i had a poor seal?

and will double check the pipe positions!!
still cant believe i put them the wrong way round in the first place!!

Probably not, there wont be any movement of fuel in the hoses if the seal at the pump isnt secure.

Either the pump seals are suspect or you've connected the hoses to the pump the wrong way round. (or both!)

Panason1c--spot on!!

fuel pipes on the wrong way round at the pump!!
car now running......

many thanks.

Rich
