C350e anyone considering one?

The concern with an extension lead is the wiring quality - the charger will pull the full 13amps and the cable / plug / socket can get warm. I've used extension leads - make sure it's very good quality / heavy duty and always make sure it's fully unraveled so that heat can dissipate. I would also suggest using the lower of the two charge speeds that you can select with the charge cable and also, obviously, make sure it's protected from rain!

Interesting on lead times my dealer advised me that cars with certain metallic colours are taking longer than standard colours had to change my red to white due to supply of certain metallic ingredient , but then I pushed the boat and added a tow bar instead

I was recently told that Blue c350e's are made in Germany as the South African factory are unable to do it. Would explain why mine arrived earlier than a colleagues grey one and why there may now be a longer lead time for blue if the German factory has a full order book.

Extensive history/evidence of owners of recent red mercedes having major paintwork problems requiring extensive repairs - back to metal full respray.
various threads on here about it.

I guess if Mercedes covers the cost it'll save having to T-cut it yourself

After one week, it had to go in for a software update to add external temperature facility as it did not previously exist. It has now been added to the bottom right hand corner of the total mileage display. Second week in and it has broken down with a "high voltage short to positive". I don't think the dealer knows how to fix it and is awaiting instruction from Germany. Not good. My colleagues are still waiting to be contacted for the external temperature display upgrade. One of my colleagues cars will not charge. It has been back in 3 times now and I don't think MB know what to do. The red battery warning signal keep coming up in the display with "malfunction" also being displayed. It will drive but will not charge. Mine had the same warning message but it would not move out of park so had to be towed in. My colleague has suffered with intermittent issues with being able to select drive and reverse so sounds like the same route cause issue.

OMG....you have just confirmed what I have been too busy to enquire about.... TEMP DISPLAY IS NOW POSSIBLE BY SOFTWARE UPDATE. Thank you very much.

P.s. After 3.5k miles mine has averaged 32.8mpg. (44 being the max I've had on a long journey)

The hybrids are made in Bremen Germany.. the non hybrid ones are made in Africa for the EU market - Which means its not really a german car at all.

If you want a quick delivery, you can have one by March, Mercedes Benz of Salisbury Wilts have a build slot. I was offered this car as I have just had to reject mine because of the faults. The dealer has run out of ideas as how to fix it and the lease company have given up. I have a cancelled order allotted to me for an April delivery. The fight now starts for a replacement vehicle until another one is delivered. I was seriously considering the new BMW 330e. This is out in April.. I don't think it has quite the same power and you need to add a lot of options to match the premium plus. They are a little cheaper and I was offered a superb lease price.

Only just seen you have had to reject the car... wow... That could be a right lemon of a car if you buy it private!

The dealer has been great in trying to fix it. Mercedes have been abismal. They keep promising to deliver a replacement car and have failed to do so on four seperate occasions. Still not sure if I have done the right thing by ordering another one!

This is the one I was looking at :)....

Masterplug CT1513P

It is only IP54 rated so wouldn't suggest using it when it is damp or raining.

They also do one which is a reel with 2x sockets (don't need that) but has thermal cut out, but it's still only IP54.

Guess some further thought is needed as to whether to go with this and shorter 4m cable or go for the 8m cable which will be long enough to get to a new socket that I am looking to get installed in our outdoor cupboard.

Does anyone know when you need to specify which cable lengths? Is this dealer provided?

The end is in sight - car due to be born tomorrow - 2nd February 2016 - this is only 8 months or 34 weeks after I ordered it - nothing too special - basic white prem plus with privacy and ash dash.

Delivery due to the dealer 19th February and hopefully I can collect late the following week.

Reading the mileage figures with interest - this will be a Company Car on 30k per year. I will probably not get the mpg i get from my 5 series which varies between 44mpg and 55mpg depending on if I am driving in London or on a long drive however all my fuel is paid for so I will save around £ 300.00 per month and combine this with lower NI for the Company as well as no congestion charge and less parking charges and the Company costs work out about the same when allowing for the increased fuel costs.

I have decided not to get a charger at home or work as I will plug in overnight so will have at least 7 hours to charge even if I leave at 5.30am with a nice warm car and will be in the office for at least 8 hours when there. This should work out at around 70p per full charge which is reasonable and will be refunded by the company as this is tax deductible for them.

Reasons for buying? Quality Car - I had a 300h demo for a week and it was very relaxing, fast, fully loaded and will cost both me and the company less in tax and rentals. No congestion charge or parking costs in many places.

Downside - small boot (cant get my skiing stuff in), increased fuel cost, possible problems with new technology and having to plug in.

I believe my car is being built this week, oh the joy, tbh honest its getting boring now and the excitement of a new car has all but been extinguished because of the wait.

Couldn't agree more how long have you been waiting? May the 1st I ordered!
Hope once it gets that bit closer the excitement level will increase again.

No dimming of excitement here. Mine should be rolling off the Bremen line sometime this week as well. Was wondering whether to hold back collection until March 1st but I'll wait to hear how quickly it gets to the dealership before deciding. Rolec being fitted in the garage on Weds - feels a bit like painting the nursery.

I'm with you on this ...

- car goes into build today, and should be finished by the end of this week
- arrives dealer 19th and will be putting a private plate on ... do I wait the 10 days ?

Rolec installed back in December ...

Mine arrived with the dealer on Friday and is currently going through PDI process.
I hope I will be able to get my hand on it this week.
