C350e anyone considering one?

That is very poor.

The bet that concerns me to a certain degree is that as yet, theres still no real in depth "bulk" reviews from any UK car mag's which suggests no press cars in the UK and also not invited to any of the demo days.

It would be great to get an insight on actually how many C350e's re currently on UK soil.

I would be requesting the dealer puts you in a hire car or a demo car at their cost (including insurance until your arrives.)

Im just happy I have a fully maintained contract on mine and if anything goes wrong is not my problem to do the leg work to get it fixed etc.
FM123 is driving around in his and kindly telling us all about his experiences. It would be very remarkable if his is the only 350e on the road in the UK.
Fact is most owners will not ever come on here, too busy enjoying their car perhaps :)

Indeed we may be a small "band of brothers" all consumed by the car we have ordered but yes there must be ordinary people out there somewhere enjoying themselves.

How very dare they.

On another forum someone has had a similar problem

Hi everybody
I was taking delivery of my new C Class 350e today, it was getting delivered to my home in Co Durham from the Exeter Mercedes branch, I was told it would be here this morning by 10 o'clock I rang Mercedes to be told the car had broken down outside Derby. After a number of phone calls I was told at 5.30 that it was a hybrid problem that has shut all the electrics down. They still dont know what the problem is.
My question is this, do I accept the car back and hope it will be ok. Does anyone own one and has anyone had any issues with 350e. if you own one what's it like.

Keep in mind that the 350e has been delivered in some numbers in other countries so the issue referred to above and on the other forum will be seen as just one of those events.

The mpg and CO2 arithmetics depend on the state of charge. When you leave home with a set of batteries bristling with electricity, and when your driving style is sedate, it is actually possible to average 50, 60, even 70mpg. In ideal conditions (no climbs, no traffic) and on a pussy-footed throttle, 20 miles are the maximum emission-free range. Hooking up to the mains is easier said than done. Since the lidded socket hides in the right corner of the bumper, a plug-in point left of the vehicle is literally s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g the friendship. Why didn’t they settle for a centre take-off point?

One other thing to consider about dealership experience, perhaps outside of the UK, is that this technology is not a mystery.

As for the report quoted above, well I am having a little fun but I know you will indulge me when you read this :)

My dealer has just called to say that I have been lied to as my car is still in Germany 'on hold' and so was never going to be delivered last week or this. He has been told that all C350e's are being held in Germany until the problem is resolved. They will not tell him what the problem is. Apparently they had 2 C350e's delivered this week and so they had escaped the 'hold' but they may need to be recalled.

Wonder if this is a right hooker issue rather than a LHD ?

Yeah.. been following that thread too late last night -

Really feel for you... not more can be said really.

Why not talk directly to Mercedes-Benz here in the UK at their HQ, I think in Milton Keynes?
Or write to them linking these posts.

I'm supposed to be getting a call back from Mercedes Customer Service - I've messaged via Twitter and promised a call back, but nothing so far...

I've sent them the link to this thread as well, the last 2 pages specifically so hopefully someone will have a read.

So far I've heard nothing more from my dealer, he said he might know more on Monday, which is the day my car was supposed to be arriving there, I think he might just be waiting to see if it turns up by chance that day :s

Such a shame when such a supposedly reputable firm treats it's customers so shoddily.

Communication is a wonderful thing.

I spoke to Customer Service and they said they would try to get more info within the next 5 working days ! The dealer was adamant that the problem was not just with my car but that delivery from Germany has been put on stop. They believe a fault has been discovered that effects all builds from a date and no c350e's are being allowed to leave Germany until the cars have been checked / repaired / verified. I would really appreciate you telling us what your dealer says so I can narrow down whether it is all cars or just mine.

Seems a high cost for installation but then I suppose if the stories one has read about the cost of replacing a government office light bulb it may be a similar contract :)

I received the full itemised invoice tonight. The Rolec unit was £ 600 inc VAT and the installation £ 430 inc VAT - grant capped at £ 700 so I paid £ 330. It was reasonably straightforward but with all the testing etc. it took him 5 hrs to install

Thanks for that, very helpful..
I am thinking that you would have been invoiced at full retail so it might be possible for around £7/800 all in.
Have an electrician popping in on Saturday to do a little job so I will sound him out.
