C350e anyone considering one?

In the short time I had mine on the road I was very happy with it, the max range I have seen on electric only is 14 miles. I have just had an update and they hope the part will be in tomorrow. They say they will have to spend a day on it. Apparently Mercedes have asked for a lot of data off the vehicle and want more when it is fixed. It seems they are very interested in the fault and want to monitor it. I do not know if this is something new or it is something they have had a lot of on a global basis. The wheels are standard as far as I am aware, there were two choices on my order form I think I picked the darker of the two.

Cheers, regarding the wheels, i think on the hybrid there was only ever the silver ones by default but on non hybrid the grey ones (code 80R) too which where a different profile on the rear, so its interesting you managed to get them, more so on a MY16 car too where the the grey was dropped! ! lucky you !!

17" alloy wheels (4) – 5-twin-spoke design - 225/50 tyres R48 - are the ones which came in Silver and grey (80R)

And the C350e only option from 1st April was 17" alloy wheels (4) – 5-twin-spoke design, front: 225/50 tyres rear: 245/45 tyres R52

Hello all,
I wouldn't worry about the initial range on your cars, when they arrive. The battery needs to go through a few discharge / recharge cycles before it reaches its max range.
My current car is a Chevy Volt, same as the Ampera and it has a rating of 32 miles electrically but I was only getting 22 when it was delivered. Within weeks it was managing 40 - 50 miles per charge in the summer and 30 - 35 in winter.

C350e polar white estate with prem plus, driver assistance, tinted windows, 360 etc ordered in May and delivery due late January.

Thanks for that and welcome to the forum and congratulations on choosing an 350e :)

But - if you are going for that as a solution and still use the UK household plug socket - you may as well just spend a tenner and get one of these ??

Yes I agree except that the more expensive model claims to be upgradeable and whilst I might not use or need it is possible someone else might. If that upgrade means a change in cabling and consumer box I might do it at today's prices, both unit and the certificated work by an electician.

Has anyone considered which charge card network to use?

I had a Chargemaster home unit installed for free on a government grant three years ago and it really takes the hassle out of taking the lead out of the boot all the time.

Please explain the lead point. Is a lead attached to the charger ?

No you have to use the lead supplied with the car for the majority of them, nice to hear the MB lead gets locked to the car as mine has been unplugged before but the lead was locked to the charge point. It is also worth having a reasonably sized screwdriver in the boot as the charge points don't always unlock when you present the card. This has happened to me twice but they are easy enough to force open.

The charger is within the car.

If you are charging your C350e (or any plug in hybrid) in a space at Services, ikea, ASDA etc ....... Do Full EV owners (Nissan Leaf etc) have right to ask you to unplug and give away to them.....I do not want to pee anyone off with bad manners, and wondered on etiquette ?

Check the speak EV forum. Plenty of opinion on that over there, some good, some less so....

Thanks for the steer to the "speak ev" forum, on the small sections I have read tonight I will aim to keep away from Rapid Chargers unless I want to be strung up, some very strong opinions.......

SpeakEv is a good ref for the charging elements for us which its new to with a lot of documented advice.

Of course.. you know where your forum home is :D

I have a C350e in stock that was going to be registered as a demo and it's now available.

It's a C350e Sport Premium Saloon in Brilliant Blue with black Artico

I had the choice, just checked my order. Mine are the grey twin spoke with the diffrent profile and width fron to back. The tyres are Hankook! I ordered in March.

Technically nobody has the right to make you give way the charger but when you're reliant on it for mobility, waiting for the interminably slow charge rate as someone tries to squeeze another one or 2 miles of battery range into their PHEV is understandably frustrating.

Ask politely, hope for a polite response.

Why isn't it being registered as a demonstrator ?

Isn't there a system or App that texts the owner of a car overstaying his welcome ?

I agree, but then at the same time 15 ev miles for a phev owner could be as important as 80 ev miles for someone who wants to just drive in ev mode and its not the phev owner who has taken that risk when the core infra is not in place ?

But one of them is not the same "This 13amp IP65 domestic socket complete with 16amp overload and 30mA fault current " plus can be upgraded to 32a later on if needed , that's why I am getting one , I could not see the point of paying loads for a 16a charger when this is almost as fast at charging the C350e if you see my point
