C350e anyone considering one?

if you manage to get it working please let me know as In the same position (only want the hybrid functions) , Not sure what Lex have told you they they where very clear in their message to me (see other post)
in the mean time will chase Mercedes re the Fleet version they are apparently working on but not expecting to see that any time soon.

The response from Automotive leasing was that I could pay for the subscription myself as not included in the lease price. I will be following this up nearer the time but sounds like only barrier is £120.

I've been tracking my fuel usage via fuelly.com I'm averaging around 40mpg and 370 miles per tank...and that's with around 8 - 10 full charge ups as well. I'm filling up when the reserve light comes up/last light on the fuel gauge, but only managing to get 41-42 litres into the 50 litre tank, so the range might be a little better, but I'm not brave enough to try it out! I've only filled up 3 times so fingers crossed this might improve a little.

C350e (Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid) | Fuelly (Change the units to UK)

I tried an M4 run at 70mph ish in C mode and averaged 37mpg over 100 miles, and on the return leg tried E mode and saw 39mpg so not too much in it.

What's your normal driving profile?

Fortunately for me, I know it's going to be an improvement as the majority of my driving during the week is city slow stop-start 10 mile max journeys. Then mostly longer motorway journeys at the weekend, airport and the odd University taxi/u-haul run ;)

I'd expect most, if not all, of weekly journeys to be electric only, and so if I get late 30's on motorway runs like you, I will be happy. Then the extra power and torque will be a bonus. :thumb: Although it would have been even better had the electric motor/s driven the front wheels to give 4x4 when needed.

I suspect that over time and volumes go up, this is how they will deliver it as 4-matic, x-drive, Quattro versions seem to be selling in greater numbers each year, and this is an alternative way to deliver that functionality.

cheers, Steve

Lex have published a document that very firmly confirms they won't allow it to be enabled on MB, or indeed any car that offers the same functions.

So unless it gets missed and is activated by mistake, don't think you've got any chance!

Other leasing companies are not the same however, so you do have a choice in that regard...

On the subject of mpg, if I can average 40 I'll be happy. My business miles are reimbursed at the government approved rates and 40mpg means I wont be subsidising my business fuel.

On another subject, I'm interested in charger etiquette. My son had his appendix out recently at University Hospital Coventry. Near the children's entrance were 2 chargers and no matter what time of day I visited there were always the same 2 cars there plugged in (a Golf GTE and a Leaf). So I guess 2 employees at the trust have plug ins /pure electric, they arrive every day at 8.30am, plug in, go to work and then leave at 5pm....surely that can't be right? What happens when a third, fourth etc employee gets a plug in?
:bannana:Fight!!!:bannana:

Hi - are you able to provide a link to this published document ?

Thank you

Please dont forget, if you are paying BIK on the car and on 4yr lease the last 2 years the tax takes a big hike on a £42k plus car

Yes that's correct, but the rates are going up for all cars....in the tax year 18/19 the tax I pay will be £169 per month (if I had it now it would be £65 and from April its £91) so yes it's going up a lot HOWEVER a new BMW 520d will be £245/month in 18/19

Yes, I did though mention on a 4yr lease so 19/20 (based on a FEB 16 delivery date takes you upto Feb 20) for every month the car is late by Merc failing to deliver, its BIK Yr4 v BIK 1 its costing you.

Its year 4 when it starts hiking up the most compared to year 1.

As BIK has not yet been released for tax year 20/21 and lets say someone ordered next month and gets a July 2016 delivery date, that would be 3 month into tax year 2020/2021, which would be an unknown.

I agree, at this moment in time it works out cheaper overall if on the right term, but at this rate the BIK is going theres less and less incentive to go for a PHEV from a BIK saving point of view and therfore the tipping point will have to be to go for cars with a lower RRP.

Indeed, all cars BIK are going up a lot. Wouldn't ever go into a lease for any more than 3 years. 2 years is preferable and the usual for me.

A lower list price will become required, for sure. The p11d on the C350e is very high, not a problem for the next couple of years, but anything of that ilk in coming years is going to get expensive.
Personal leasing is growing in popularity and for good reason, can well see me choosing an allowance before very long!

Been reading through some of the pages and see that the thread in large is either;
a) excited expecting owner
b) MPG
c) tax

Well I am A, expecting a jan delivery having ordered 3 cars in June (other 2 cars TBC).

It is a company car so the BIK is the driver here, so while MPG is of interest it is not a concern....that said we now have charging points at work and I will probably install 1 at home as my commute is about 15 miles if in the office.

Specifically for Driver15, I have not read all the posts so forgive me asking you to repeat any points, but I am not sure why you would cancel? I ask as the other 2 cars are delayed, so wanted to check your reasons to see if they are applicable to the other guys here.

However my request to the current owners, what is the performance like? While a premium comfy spacious estate with low BIK is enough for most people, I ordered one as on paper it has immense performance compared to any equivalent choice and was petrol powered and would rev like a proper engine should. Just want reassurance really.

Driver 15, now you have cancelled what are you planning to go for ?

It is going up in BIK tax in year 3/4 but I calculated over a 4 year lease it is still circa £6k cheaper than a BMW 320ED when you have a fuel card.

Just had a call from my dealer - build now confirmed - February 2016 so delivery to me early March just in time for new plates - only 9 months then nearly to the day!!

Right -

After finding out that the car would not be here to at mid least Feb 2016 (Ordered March 2015) following build, PDI checks etc and on the basis it did not slip again, it was time to say farewell and vote with my feet !! Order Status - Cancelled

I have had enough with the let down of Mercedes, failed replies to communication and quoted build times, plus the fact my order from March 2015 was going to nearly be 11 months wait time in the end which was still not set in stone.

Core reasons for cancelling:-

  • Months after ordering found out that Mercedes Me would be disabled. (Also having paid for Remote online too and non removal on current price or BIK after finding out disabled,) Impact - Real time battery charge status, remote route planning, preheating on demand and remote charge timing.
  • EV range of 19 miles is realistically max 12-14
  • MPG - We all knew it would not be 138mpg due to the testing cycles carried out, but peaking at 45mpg on a long run unloaded is far from the quoted figures. (fair enough a 280bhp car the figures are good.) Dread to think MPG on a 4 person up, loaded up and roofbox.
  • Car delayed 5 months further than the 6 already waited.- Sick of waiting.
  • Home charge point price increase of £100 since May quote.
  • MPG concerns over location where I live which can result in routes climbing upto 1000ft from cold, more so with depleted battery.
  • Saloon Boot space
  • Seeing cars ordered after mine been delivered or due before.
  • Mercedes unable to detail the core reason for the delay.
  • Concerns of 4 yr lease with MPG.
Its been a hard choice to make, lot of mixed feelings pros and cons both ways as the C350e is a fantastic package. There are a lot of pros for the C350e as you know.

The plan now moving forward is to get a 2yr lease on "something", i am just going to go for something non comparable and fit for purpose and also replace the Mrs car as well now with a new one.

So - best wishes on the new C350e's guys and I hope those who are waiting get theirs soon and enjoy.

If my lease would of been 2 years, i would of took the gamble i think.

For me, the figures are a lot closer than that when taking into account the delays, but the Merc was still cheaper on a month by month basis, but MPG could of pulled that in a bit closer but not by much.

(I also have the option for a cash allowance, which i currently take.)

Have you ordered anything yet?

I suspect MB will make a big effort to deliver all C350e's within 9 months - otherwise who is going to foot the bill for the £5k shortfall when the OLEV grant isn't applied??
