C350e anyone considering one?

Thanks Hatchie, that sounds encouraging.

Their reply did say that the emergency response was a requirement by law so has to work regardless. The traffic updates is also a useful feature so I'm glad that still works too.

And if I can de-ice the car without draining the battery and getting a longer journey too ill be a happy bunny so can for-go the other 'nice to have' connected features.

350e I've also gone for Brilliant Blue. I think they look stunning in that colour!

I have thought, until now, that the energy demands for heater, air con and so on were being met by an ordinary 12 volt battery and not the big brute in the boot, is that wrong ?
Yes, Brilliant Blue is a real head turner and you will be delighted with it ✌

We have a leaf as a second car and it has a normal 12v aux battery for all the ancillary devices like lighting, stereo, heating etc.

Hi folks I'm a newbie here and having ordered a C350e saloon back in May I'm hoping the delivery in January will be a reality after reading some of the positive posts on here.

However I have a query relating to the 'Connect Me' app after finding out yesterday that the lease company used by my companies fleet department has 'opted out' of using the connected services.

I've challenged this with them (Lex Autolease) and queried which services if any will still be available. The emergency response facility and live traffic updates are important to me as a driver covering a lot of business miles and I'm informed by Lex that these are not dependant on Connect Me.

After reading parts of this thread it sounds like the range of the batteries is drastically reduced by not using the pre-entry heat facility with the car plugged in, which I understood was programmed through the app.

What I'm querying then is whether you can programme this in the car directly without doing it through the Connect Me app? If so I'm not too fussed about them opting out of the app being registered but if it can't be accessed without the app I'll be making some noise about the effective economy of a hybrid car not being used properly with the knock on effect of cost of fuel.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Steve
You can set your departure time in the car for it to pre heat etc whilst it's plugged in. That's what I'm doing at the moment due to Lex not allowing the remote services to be enabled..

The 12v battery in the lead only runs the ancillaries (wipers, stereo etc). For heating (pre heating) then the high energy battery is used in the Leaf, same as the Merc!

When I say heating, I meant the seat heating and steering wheel heating, I dont use the normal heating as its pre heated every morning [emoji106]

Just checked the stock date on the Lex portal and it's still showing coming into stock on the 5th January, so fingers crossed I'll be getting a very nice, late christmas prezzie!

Do you have steering wheel heating on your 205?

Ant.

I bet you were blowing smoke out your ears!!
I was until I got out of the car and there was a young girl in floods of tears. Waited for her dad to come and take her home. Car has £3K of damage and quoted 3 weeks for the repair. I wonder if they will get the 350e's rear bumper in 3 weeks? Told girl's insurance company that I needed an auto estate and they's put me in a brand new fully loaded Volvo XC90 D5 whilst mine's off the road. Nice car (like driving a block of flats) but is noisy and slow compared to 350e. And 24mpg around town is awful!! Can't wait to get my car back

I have good news, I may well be the first Lex car driver with Connect Me fully enabled! I gave up on Lex and went to my friendly local dealer who were more than happy to oblige me!!

Bring on the frosty mornings!

Mine is going in to be updated Thursday to have the update that hopefully give me the outside temp gauge, how did you get them to enable this? Mine is also a Lex car and I would like these services.

I spoke to a very helpful head of sales and explained that Lex had forgotten to get this enabled and could they help. A copy of the v5 and delivery note showed it was my car and they were more than happy to help out!!

It literally took 5 mins and they didn't need to access the car, just confirmed it was me on the Mercedes system.

Let me know on the s/w update and how that turns out. I would find outside temp very useful!! Thanks in advance.

Why are there restrictions on remote/connect services for lease cars?

My car is a non lease car - private PCP,
but supplied through lease channels. will it also be crippled?

Complete explanation of the leasing companies reasons for disabling the system if you go back in this thread.

Mercedes UK told me that they could activate the system from their end. It might be worth remembering if any local difficulty arises.

Software

I have also asked them to activate the services. When you log on you only have to agree to certain parts of the connected services. Lex did like the tracking and servicing bit. I have only agreed to the heating/ cooling and charge state etc. I hope they will activate as requested as i will not be using the bits that they are worried about. I will post an update when I get it back Friday re the outside temp gauge.

If you can select which services you have enabled I can't see why Lex have difficulty allowing their drivers use the convenience connected services and leave the servicing and maintenance services disabled as they apparently conflict with the services Lex provide.

It sounds like when mine arrives I'll be taking a trip to my local dealer to find someone who can turn some of the services on.
