C350e owners club

If you switch it on it uses the residual heat to keep the car warm when you stop. I think it is intended to keep the car warm for a short stop.

The middle "REST" button is the the residual heat control. This button is the "Immediate pre-entry climate control". The icons are totally mystifying, but I found this in the manual:

Today's the day....due to collect ours this afternoon.

Dealer yet to respond to my questions about making sure that the firmware is up to date and if the water ingress into charging cable issue has been sorted in production and applied to our car or is still a 'fix on fail' situation.

Never had a new car before so not sure on protocol when it comes to any problems we may find. My feeling is that if we find any, we just refuse the car until we are 100% happy with it. I suspect that will focus their minds on sorting it out if they don't get paid.

Will post a picture or two later. Wish us luck!

There is an updated Android app which shows charge state....doesn't show how long till charged.

Seems like getting it right is quite a challenge for the Nercedes Me app team.

Other than that a few other new bits and cosmetic changes.

Well, that all went well. No, seriously, it did. Car was perfect, all questions answered, paid & signed, drove home the long way round. Not a great night for the first run TBH, bad patches of fog here & there and heading towards the rush hour as well but all good.

Very early days yet, but, well, nice doesn't really cover it but will have to do for now.

Very pleased.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, especially if it's your first new car - can't beat it. Just remember that the electric motor gives instant torque - even in reverse. That caught me out the first time I reversed off the drive !!

The interactive manual is much easier to use over the massive tomb. The Apple Store has a Mercedes Guide App which is very good for a iPad to iPhone.

Good luck.

Really enjoyed the drive home, even in the rubbish conditions. Lots to learn, looking forward to it.

Funny you mention the care when reversing....putting it on the drive I was very cautious! I'd seen previous comments about how fast movement looks in the reversing camera. No kidding, it's like the Millenium Falcon going into hyperspace.

I'd already grabbed the guide app for the iPad once we had decided to go with the C350e but I have to confess, I don't mind a printed tome for this sort of thing. Probably my age showing.

Need to buy an iPhone now to go with the car. My current phone isn't very 'smart'

Extravagant indeed! Very unlike me. My usual deal is to buy used high end but unpopular cars then keep them a long time. As for a smartphone, never felt the need. Until now anyway.

Thanks for that link, added to the home screen of the iPad but the car isn't activated yet it seems. The dealer tried to do it yesterday but wasn't confident it had worked. Not to worry, will sort it tomorrow.

Even after just one 'plug in' I think I'll see about a charge point. Just for the convenience of having a permanently connected cable really, although some of the DIY solutions I've seen look promising as well.

Car was showing 18 miles on the odo and 9mpg when we picked it up. What the heck had they been doing to it! Running it in probably..... Got that up to 49 on the journey home. Planning a trip out today to put a few miles on it and get more familiar. Shame the weather is so iffy.

I really need hurry up and move so I can charge mine, and be a bit more careful with my right foot. 560 miles 24mpg [emoji23].

Had a pleasant run out today. Not all that far but both Vickie & I had a drive. Vickie "discovered" the collision avoidance alert system.......might encourage her to leave a bigger gap maybe?

So far, only negative comment is the pronunciation on the sat NAV. Insists on calling 'High Street' "higher street" and whoever programmed the database needs to try again. No such place as Evensham anywhere round here. I've no doubt there will be other 'interesting' versions.

Otherwise, superb.

I have lived around this area all my life, and on my way home my sat nav often tells me there is queuing traffic at Ba...............d. I can't even hazard a guess at where she is on about!!

You wait until she has you turning left at a roundabout when you clearly want to go right. I'm convinced it's a hang over from The Longest Day where the Germans switched the signposts round.

Seems I have much to look forward to then.... ;)

My trusty old Alfa 166 never quite got used to driving on the left. Always says 'leave the roundabout at the (nth) turning on the r..left' It wasn't smart enough to do anything other than give basic directions though - no enunciation of road names or destinations.

Thought I had hit upon a neat and cost effective way to sort the internet access in the car situation - buy the dedicated Mercedes 'phone' module. Damn things costs more than an iPhone! Only real positive of the thing is it uses the built in aerial. Might reconsider the need for internet access actually. I have a WiFi 'pointer' gadget that uses 3G and is on a very reasonable PAYG daily rate deal so might just use that for now. I know its one of those things I'll make use of if I have it...but do I really need it? Or perhaps, want to pay for it.

Right, off to phone the dealer to see if they can get the Mercedes me thing working today.

My favourite is Pontefract, where the 'te' has far too much emphasis

Got the Connect working today after the dealer removed/re-entered the car at their end. The mobile weblink seems to work pretty well on the iPad. All 19 services are active apparently, which is nice....

Tracked the missus on her way home tonight. Pretty bang on it was as well. Her journey to work was 100% electric, journey home not quite 100% electric but managed 68.9mpg. Bit better than the 23mpg the old Alfa used to give, or the 14mpg from the Jeep.

Handy being able to check charge state.

Have set up pre-entry heating for tomorrow morning so it'll be interesting to see if that behaves.

Happy/10 so far :)

Anybody fancy owning up to the Cat D C350e on Autotrader at the moment for £16,950?

Ha, I can almost hear that one. :)

Gonna have to switch voice instructions on - I can't remember what it sounds like...
