C350e owners club

Phew.....just finished reading this epic thread. Not in one go I hasten to add...

Expecting (hoping) to collect ours this week and was keen to get a sense of the car now they have been out in the wild for a bit. A worrying number of issues with water ingress it seems. I only know one person with one and he had the issue. MPG figures seem to vary as wildly as I would expect them to TBH.

Wishing I'd specced the driver aid pack now as well as the funky headlights but given how few miles we usually do, I guess I can live without them. 360 camera might have been good too. Hey ho. Maybe next time ;)

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, it's been helpful.

Just had my car confirmed for delivery next tuesday and i must admit im very excited

Nice early xmas present

I've a question for current(!) owners if I may. This might well be common to other cars but then again, I've noticed that some features seem very model specific.

Anyhoo...does anyone know if it is possible to assign a particular seat/mirror memory to a particular key? My 2006 Jeep does that, as well as remembering your last settings on the radio. A really great feature when constantly switching drivers as the missus and I do and something I'd kind of expect a car as sophisticated as the modern Mercedes to have as well.

Still waiting (im)patiently for the call from the dealer to tell us the car is in and ready for collection...... how long does it take to ship a car from stock in Purfleet and do a PDI? :)

The memory isn't set to a key, you just save to 1 of the 3 memories and then select the required one when you get in. It saves the seat and external mirrors.

You can seperatly set whether both seats are heated or just the driver's when you pre-heat the car

Thanks for confirming that - I had a suspicion that was all it did as I'd not seen any mention of the feature in anything I've been able to read so far. Still haven't seen the full printer owners manual of course as I don't have the car yet. The online stuff is OK but seems to lack detail (I could be missing it of course!).

Shame they didn't take the opportunity to allow different settings on different keys. When I discovered the Jeep could do that I was mighty impressed!

With regards how long it takes for the shipping of the cars - it depends if it's built in Germany or South Africa! A colleague of mine ordered his in May and has a expected delivery date in January. I ordered mine in June and received it 2 weeks ago. Both via NHS fleet who advised him it would take another 5 weeks to ship from South Africa whereas mine came within a week from Germany.

Only difference was mine was black, premium, night pack & dark ash wood trim; his is brilliant blue, premium plus & dark ash wood trim.

How do you control the heated seat settings ?
Both my seats start off with heating on everytime I open the car. Would love to turn that off.

Whoo Hoo...spoke to the dealer today, collecting Saturday. Might have been sooner if there hadn't been seem weirdness going on with email communications.

Activated the free 7 day insurance and got the expected quote for a full policy. Actually, not too scary at all. Yet to try out my current insurer or compare the offerings. As this is my first ever new car, or even one worth a significant amount (to me anyway) I need to be a bit more careful about the details I think.

Already an insomniac, the next few nights are going to be worse no doubt. If only I had the owners manual to read as a cure for that..... :)

My missus will like the auto-seat heating feature. Not sure I will be so keen though.

This is strange, my understanding was that all estates and both salloon and estate hybrids were built in Germany and all salloons in South Africa.

It's the reason why the c350e is the only salloon you can get in Brilliant Blue..

Both my seats start off with heating on everytime I open the car. Would love to turn that off.

There is a setting in the heating menu for "Both Sides" or "Driver's Side".

Incidentally I ended up switching off the pre heat on entry facility as I found it a drag everytime I opened the car but didn't want to go anywhere. I'm quite often taking things in and out of the car, and everytime it would start whirring away and switching the seats on. Drove me mad!

I think the C350e started off as a Bremen only model, but this article from July suggests the saloon is now being made in South Africa:

SA-built Mercedes C350 e all charged up | Wheels24

We both ordered saloons.

Mine; black, premium, dark ash wood, night pack & 360 camera - built in Germany.

My colleagues; brilliant blue, premium plus & dark ash wood trim - built in South Africa.

You're not activated until you get an email from mercedes.
My activation took around 6 hours.

Is it this? Too many mystery features in this car...

If you switch it on it uses the residual heat to keep the car warm when you stop. I think it is intended to keep the car warm for a short stop.
