C350e owners club

Service Manager in IT. Car will be through Arval.

You'll most likely find the boot space enough for carrying majority of IT stuff, boxes and etc. Focusing on the notion of "Boot Volume" as an absolute figure might be misleading! The practical size and space that a saloon provides, seems to be sufficient for most applications. I can fit a significant number of boxes, suitcases and test gears into the boot without a problem. The benefit of the gadgets and options that you can add to your car, compensates for the hassle of clever thinking when packing your gear :D

My main concern is the pram, :D . Only do about 1,000 business miles a year.

Got a C200 as a hire car at the moment (because someone decided to use the back of my 430d to help them stop on the M60). The pram fits in the C200, but worried about the lip/battery. Having to take the wheels off every trip will be a PITA.

Will see if I can find a dealer with one in.

It's here: https://app.secure.mercedes-benz.com/app/#/vehicle/dayNightTariff

Remember you also need to set a departure time to activate the delay.

My dial looks like this. It's not intuitive at all. You need to press any of the plus buttons at the bottom of the page until you have at least two periods on the dial, then make sure that one of them is set to "do not charge". That period should start before you're intending to plug in and finish when you want the charging to start. All a bit of a faff, really.

Anyone got the 19" Wheels on their C350e?
I am in the process of upgrading my C350e to the 19's and need the recommended tyre pressures. The tyres will be 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear.
(I've already posted in the "wheels" section but no luck yet.)

I am sorry if I haven’t tried hard enough to find a discussion about the battery maximum charge and achievable mileage. I have clicked on many of the pages here but sadly didn’t land on the right one if it has been discussed.

I trying to decide if I should take my car to the dealer and complain that after a full charge the most I ever see is a range of 15 miles. I think in the past it has been higher and therefore wonder if the battery has degraded. Other point to note is that if at the outset the car shows a range of 14 miles, the one most often seen, on start up and moving off it drops to 13.
I know that real world mileage is different to the makers PR department but I cannot think that I would have bought the car if the claimed mileage was barely enough to get me through the London Low Emissions Zone.

What views and experience do others have :?:

There are loads of posts on this thread regards this - 15 miles is generally considered to be very good - lower temperatures brings it down. The range will drop from the outset if you have the heating / air con on.

The real world mpg seems to be around 45 on a long drive with a full charge at the start - for a car that accelerates 0-60 in less than 6s you will be hard to match that in similar sized petrol car.

I nearly took mine into a dealer today. I used 60% of the battery to do 6 miles. 9 miles actual range in summer?? I've heard a couple of people talk about 18-20 miles on the very best days.

Same here! Best I ever get after a full charge on a dry day is 14 miles which in practice barely exceeds 9 real miles on a normal road with only driver and no boot load!!
Early days, it showed 17-18 miles on the screen but it faded away rapidly and degrading since then!

Must be individual cells dying among the pack of NiMH batteries. Reflecting the battery quality! I expected more from MB

18-20 miles? may be for a brand new one.
My laptop and I plus a bottle of water weigh about 78 kilograms. Driving to local super market some 4 miles away, costs 60% of the battery charge!
Driving back with some food shopping, needs the ICE!

Where is Mr Tesla?

Battery range and mpg

I was previously the most leaden-footed driver on the planet and yet I can get 99.9mpg on an 18 mile round trip to my gym any day I want (at least in summer).

That includes a bit of ICE for the dual carriageway 7 miles each way and some exuberant acceleration when someone p's me off.

If my battery shows 14 miles of electric range (even if the app shows 15 - it drops one mile as soon as I slip it in gear!) I could get about 12 at reasonable driving speeds.

Are you guys using it in E or C?

I also tend to get to about 4 miles from home and then put it into E-Drive and the take the battery down to about 8%

I'm not sure that lower estimated range = cells dying. I'm not even sure that lower actual range = cells dying, because there are so many variables including the weather, traffic conditions, driving style, etc. Maybe people who can do further than me on battery have a slightly downhill journey? I just want to know whether there's anything wrong with the battery in my car when 12 miles is the most I've ever done in quiet traffic on a hot, dry day.

I use I*, with the settings more similar to E than C.

Similar situation here in winter, but I can generally manage 9-12 miles in the summer.

Mr Tesla is annoyingly expensive, but I keep an eye out for him!

The "range" depends on your driving style, prior to charging. If you have been lead footed driving round town, the charged mileage will show a low reading. If you have been on a longer trip, with hills etc. where the battery can be charged during the journey, it will show much larger mileage.

It's the same as a standard petrol engine that estimates the range based on your previous driving style.

My fully charged C350e can show only 18kms or up to 24kms, depending on how I have driven.

However, I never actually get this range. It can drop 3 kms in the first 1km.

Many thanks Saxon6

I've become concerned about the mpg figures now! It seems that (unfortunately) 45 is the average number! Facing a dilemma, I guess the compromise would be driving one of the best cars in its class as opposed to cheaper cars with much better fuel economy.
I can still cancel my order but would I do that?! I guess not.
Fuel economy plays a major role for me as I drive an average of 30,000 miles a year. I just wish that more owners and drivers contribute to this thread with their mpg values so that we can build a better picture of the running cost of this beauty.

Cheers
I've done 7,000 kms since December and the average fuel usage stay steady, around 7 litres/100kms (approx. 45 MPG)

I've tried 95 and 98 octane fuel, but, haven't noticed much difference.

Not forgetting it also depends on your driving style when actually driving! Economical driving works just as well on ICE or EV. We are a bit challenged with only 6kWh or so to play with, and having to lug that great chunk of ICE & gearbox around so the car is never going to win any efficiency contests when compared to a pure EV. I suppose you can view the weight of the ICE as a flat battery in a pure EV - it does you no good unless it's used.

As noted, compromise is the thing. I'm not sure the C350e is necessarily the right car for you doing 30k a year though - there are more economical alternatives for those sorts of miles. Mostly diesel though.

Postpone the purchase and see what comes in a couple of years? Kind of wishing I had TBH.

Boot open

I have twice returned to my car and found the boot wide open in the last month. On neither occasion did I use the boot when I parked the car, and the mirrors were folded in.

Am I going mad? Is anyone else questioning if the shut the boot when they left the car?

With regard to electric range, I have a 16A Charge master unit. When charged the car shows 16 miles, but in Comfort I only get 12 miles before the engine cuts in. My home town is surrounded by hills so not ideal for electric range. I have found that switching the HVAC off makes a difference.

I've had that happen to me a few times. I've got a C250d estate, returned to the car after work and the tailgate was open.. Lucky it hadn't rained out even worse the car being rifled through... Most bizarre. All I can imagine is that I've put the keys in my pocket and as I've walked away from the car I've inadvertantly been pressing the tailgate release button on the key and it's just been strong enough to activate as I've walked into the building... Who knows. The 350e arrives next month so it sounds like more of the same[emoji1]
