C350e owners club

Yup, it's appalling. Just hoping the new cable arrives before 2040 or I'll be really stuck.

I dropped in to the dealer this week to chase it up and at least the lady at the parts desk had the good grace to look shocked and say "oh my god, that's terrible!" when the delivery date came up on her screen.

I also had Mercedes Me de-activate all my features last Friday and leave me without traffic updates on the busiest weekend of the year. Dealer reactivated and all ok now, but just wondered if anybody else had this happen to them? System crash or just me being unlucky?

Still loving every minute I spend in the car, just wishing the ownership experience was a bit less niggly.
Well someone at the dealer did something magical and my replacement cable arrived today - 2 months since it failed, but a month ahead of schedule.

Mostly I'm just delighted to be able to get back to 100% charge. Poor girl was starving. Expected electric mileage is showing as 18 as well, which is way above the 14 I was seeing beforehand. I know I won't get 18 real miles, but I'm hoping for more than usual and I'm assuming that's because it's a lot warmer at the moment?

Anyway, back to gliding silently around and mpg returning to what it was.

btw I was getting 45 mpg over the time when I didn't have a cable, mix of motorway and A/B roads, not much urban, which I still reckon is pretty good for that engine and weight of car. It's not just a heavy 2 litre turbo, it's still a hybrid when you don't plug in.

I know I like this car because I'm actually looking forward to the commute tomorrow.

I definitely think this is a car for people who mostly do 50 miles or less per day (and preferably have the ability to charge at each end!). I did sign up for "Charge Your Car" but now it charges £1 for any charging (which is less than the benefit you'd gain) I'll never use it again.

Pros: the "free" air suspension which does make it a nice ride. Pretty fast when you need it to be (and without hitting Sport+ which just makes annoying noises). It is nice to waft around on electric power and now I'd figured out how/when to use E-Mode - I can get 99+mpg on my gym trip (19 miles) - although not in winter!

Cons: annoying when you deplete the battery and either have a very heavy 2l with no extra zip OR have to use Charge mode (which really hammers mpg). If the battery had twice the capacity, I'd be VERY sold on this car - and it does OK for me - but at about 10k miles per year and mostly short trips. Throw in a few 200+ mile trips and I'm also at that 45mpg average - so most diesels would do better.

I'd sacrifice 100bhp of ICE for 50bhp of electric motor and triple the battery capacity. Actually, I'd happily let the whole engine go for 100bhp more electric power, but it would need 10x the battery capacity, minimum.

I'm not sure how you get to no extra zip. It's pretty much impossible to get below 8% battery, as far as I can tell.

Charging services have gone anti-PHEV. It's a shame, but I'm making do with charging at home.

I've had the car down to 0% while driving in London before. It was an hour of stop/starts, after depleting the battery on the way up to London. I got a warning and then Charge mode kicked in automatically.

Does anyone know what the cost is to charge from the ICE? It charges really quickly!!

Wow. That's very unusual to see it that low. I think I've got to 8 or 9% and then E-MODE becomes unavailable.

That's impressive and scary. Not something to be done every day minimum and maximum charge levels stress the battery more than staying in the 10%-90% range. I wonder if there's set-aside capacity after the battery claims to be full, because they take a hammering going from 100% to 10% in as little as 10-15 minutes.

This was in Hybrid mode only and I was not trying to force on battery.
In hybrid mode my ICE kicks in around the 20% battery level and holds it around that, engine set on economy. With emode it goes to about 8%. This seems consistent with the majority of owners. Down to zero is impressive, though may not be best for battery longevity. Made me start thinking if the car computer was taking into account your GPS location in Central London? That would be a new twist.

Me too, and I think your idea about location is probably right.

Ill definitely be keeping my eye on it and raise with Merc if it happens again.

I'm trying to set the charge to occur at a specific time via the MercedesMe website. I tried maybe 6 weeks ago and the 'dial' for selecting the time on the website wasn't very intuitive. Now though, I can't find the feature at all. Does anyone know where this is?

It's here: https://app.secure.mercedes-benz.com/app/#/vehicle/dayNightTariff

Remember you also need to set a departure time to activate the delay.

My dial looks like this. It's not intuitive at all. You need to press any of the plus buttons at the bottom of the page until you have at least two periods on the dial, then make sure that one of them is set to "do not charge". That period should start before you're intending to plug in and finish when you want the charging to start. All a bit of a faff, really.

Hi all

I've had the car for 18 months now and am generally happy. Only averaging 9 real miles on battery but ok

But - meant to ask if anyone has anything like this? This is the gap at the bottom of the rear door sill

Add mine for 3 months. Here's each of my rear sills. Looks the same.

This has been discussed earlier in this forum- check post number 1195!

Thinking of getting the 350e (estate or Saloon) as my next company car. Great thread this.

I know the boot has been discussed a couple of times... But looking at the photos of the saloon I don't get how the boot capacity is reduced from 480, standard C class, to 335 litres for the 350e. At least they're the official figures.

Is the whole floor of the 350e boot raised (Or is it just the step and losing the under floor space/cubby)?

Has anyone on here seen both side by side, is there really 1/3 less space in the 350e boot?

p.s. I know the easy answer is get the estate... but I can get a lot more toys on the saloon (premium Plus, etc).

The largest area (about 300mm in from the very back all the way forward to the rear seat backs) is raised by about 75mm. That calculates to be quite a lot of lost volume. The lower section is handy to stand a case or drop soft bags into, but the main area is height limited by the raised floor and the parcel shelf/speakers etc.

It would be a real problem if the rear seat backs didn't drop down. Trying to decide on what car to use for a family holiday recently proved that (without dropping the seat backs) my wife's Nissan Joke (Juke) could actually take more luggage than my 350e saloon.

Are you a service engineer by any chance?

Thanks Wrighty. The measurements help visualize it a bit more.

Did some calcs with your measurements and say that lip is 75cm front to back, 107 across and 7.5 high that's still only 60 litres. Where does the other 85 litres go in the official figures?

Service Manager in IT. Car will be through Arval.
