Just went through this too - car turned 3 on the 16th. So far, I've only paid for the "Remote & Navigation Services" which re-enabled pre-entry climate control and one other thing I forget.... The 'Navigation" part of the package is the bit that shows charge stations on the map, but at point of purchase, it was showing as 'unavailable'. Not bothered TBH as I never charge the thing away from home.
Currently wondering if it's worth paying for the "Vehicle Setup" bundle to re-enable all the the other stuff. Leaning towards not doing it TBH, but the app looks pretty sparse without those functions. Well, it would be nice if it did actually look sparse by removing the stuff I don't have active....but of course, they'd never do that as it serves as a constant nag as it is. No doubt, MB would argue "it's a benefit to customers to make it easy for them to re-activate services they may want"
Have to say, this really is penny-pinching of the worst sort from MB I think. They have (choose) to have the infrastructure to support all of this for new cars, if the car is up to date on servicing it has Mobilo cover, so the emergency 'phone' is active. Does anyone know if the real emergency stuff (car calls for help in the event of a big shunt) works forever? Seems to me the additional costs to support other features must be pretty minimal?. A nice gesture would be to continue at least the basic vehicle functionality stuff for "free" if the car was under service contract or at the very least, up to date on servicing by MB. Given the price of servicing, they could throw in the MercedesMe stuff.
I wouldn't necessarily expect live traffic to be 'free', but then again, how much does it cost them?? (a genuine question by the way - may well be there is a per-user fee they have to pay???).
Any excuse or opportunity to monetise us.
