C350e owners club

Maybe get it on star and get the codes read.

A faulty lambda sensor usually won’t trigger any warning lights on the dash but can increase your fuel consumption significantly with no other symptoms. MPG increased significantly on my previous CLK by fixing a duff sensor.

Is there a good independent Mercedes specialist near you who can hook it up to their diagnostic equipment? (It's called STAR). Maybe start another thread asking if anyone can recommend you somewhere.

Even £200 at a Mercedes main dealer will soon be paid back by better economy and they will also see if you are due any of the recalls they issue - they shouldn't charge for those.

How much would that cost to replace? I don’t have any warranty on my car.

Don’t know any decent Mercedes dealer. I’m from ilford Essex and have only been to Stratford and Loughton. Both branches treat people like garbage.

BMW and FORD gave excellent service. Wasn’t expecting this from Mercedes.

OK, well start a new thread saying where you are from and ask other people where they use.
:)

First MOT on the car tomorrow. Not expecting any issues given it’s only done 7500 miles from new....

Also asked for the nav maps to be updated (last free update) and any system/vehicle software updates to be applied. Kind of curious to see how that goes given the response I got when making the booking. These dealers really don’t like doing map updates under warranty, do they.

Hi guys, late to the game I know but after 6 months of looking for for the right approved used 350e finally purchased a 68 plate premium pack silver estate.
Been driving it now for 3 weeks and just about getting used to the driving modes.
Loving the comfort, smooth ride and quick acceleration when needed. Like most of you here getting obsessed with seeing how long I can make the first tank of fuel last.
Like some of you on the forum my journeys are mainly local and will probably drive less than 5000 miles
In a year.

Included some of my initial journeys below which I’m quite pleased with.
Range is showing anywhere between 12 to 15 and like most it drops a mile as soon as the car moves.
I usually start the journey in Emode for a couple of miles then switch to Esave working out how many electric miles I need for the return journey.
We have a few hills here in South Wales which makes it a little more difficult.

Welcome. Those numbers look pretty familiar and show just how sensitive to the journey it is. It’ll turn you into a hypermiler if you aren’t careful ;)

No worries on the MOT (as expected TBH). No luck on teh map update - already at the latest version as I had them done early this year so that's it for my "free" updates. Did have a firmware update on "the driveline" but no details (chap didn't know) and I forgot to make a note of the update number. I'm only curious, but does anyone know how to find out?

The engineer in me wants to know!! I find it a bit frustrating that the working assumption is always "Sir doesn't need to know". Ultimately, true I suppose, but it would be nice to have the option for those of us who are interested.

I didn't notice any difference either.

I agree. The assumption is that the owner/driver doesn't want to know. But we do!
I always wonder if they try not to make too much of a fuss about recalls/updates as it implies something was wrong in the first place.

Could be an urban legend, but I was told that our local BMW garage ran a nightshift back in the late 90s when BMW engines were suffering from Nikasil problems. A car would go in for a service - "we just need to keep it overnight sir as we are waiting for some parts" - and a new engine would go in without the owner knowing!

Thanks, It is somewhat addictive actually. Hope my enthusiasm lasts for a couple of years at least.
What version of Garmin maps are you on Chris ? Been trying to use the Mercedes installer app but have come to the conclusion it hasn’t ever worked judging by posts on other forum threads.
Mine is Version 10 currently, think it’s up to about v13 !!
Would have thought that the dealer would have checked this before selling the car.

It's turned me into a proper 'old man' a lot of the time. (I am old, but that's another matter). Funny enough though, I did actually use a bit of the performance potential today - forgot how well it can go.

I've got COMAND, so can't DIY map updates - have to get it done at a dealer. Assuming I was told the truth today (and I think I was) current version is still 2019 V13 which I had put on the car in March. There's a thread in another section here that seems to confirm that too.

Sad to say, my opinion of dealers was somewhat coloured by the one I bought mine from. Simply everything after taking my money was just all too much bother, so I'm not surprised your maps are out of date. That said, it is really up to the original owner to keep them updated while its under the initial 3 year warranty, after that, it's very much a pay as you go deal. It's been my experience (and others too by the looks of it) that in-warranty map updates is about the last thing dealers want to be doing if they can at all fob you off. It's one reason why I changed dealer for servicing. (and don't get me started on the servicing....)

Frankly, the nav on mine is such an idiot, I won't be paying to update the maps nor continue to subscribe to the traffic info.

Speaking of maps, has anyone successfully launched an address from the app to the car? Mine has never been able to do it. Would be a nice feature if usable, as the maps interface in car is awful.
Tbh, I find the whole audio system a bit shoddy, slow at scrolling through radio stations. Limitted dab stations (mad I've not got heart xmas). Annoying traffic announcements keep enabling everytime I enter the car.
(thank god I didn't pay £40k for this car)

I’ve been getting these sort of figures when driving locally. I’m driving very slowly as well.

don’t know what’s going on. It’s significantly worse than my bmw 320i that I used to have.

don’t know what’s going on.

I do.

There is something wrong with your car. We have said that from the moment you started posting. Your car will not miraculously mend itself. All that will happen is you will keep burning money on fuel and you will get more and more annoyed with it. Then you will sell it and tell everyone that Mercedes cars are shit.

Alternatively, you could ask for a recommendation for a specialist in your area, ask them to check the car out and mend it.

Choice is yours. ;)

You and me both but I’m told age is only a number yes forgot you have the Command system, agree that it’s up to the owner to keep updated but I’m in the position of wanting to update myself but the Mercedes installer software doesn’t work (will try and contact MB to ask some questions).
Next October for my first (cars second) service experience.

Anyone else on the forum managed to update Garmin maps themselves ?

A short journey yesterday produced some great mpg. A 3 mile journey this morning in Hybrid with 10% battery showing gave me just 18 mpg (must remember to charge the car, if it ever stops raining down here).
