Realistic C350e MPG - MBWorld.org Forums

Interesting reading thanks.

I've just done some calcs.
My first three fill ups with inconsistent (only 6 times) charging and lots of motorway miles have yielded 36MPG (UK!). This was still running in the engine and across 856 miles. Also fully laden with partner and xmas baggage!

I'm currently on my first typical usage stint. I've charged it each evening, and doing my 9 mile commute, no long distances, and I'm driving one up.
I'd imagine this should yield my best possible MPG. I'm driving mainly in Hybrid/Comfort as my commute is a mix of town and country roads and I figure accelerating to 60mph is more efficient with petrol than electric?
Will update when I next refill.

Why in comfort mode??

somebody else mentioned this yesterday, but I don't understand why comfort would be better than eco.

Mainly laziness on my part!

I do flip between them, I figure that for burst of acceleration Comfort might be slightly more responsive?
I did a long run in Eco and found the auto-braking on busy motorway both useful and annoying. I'm happy for the car to decide how much braking is required, but sometimes you do want to coast to flex the gap, which Comfort will do.

The haptic pedal is quite useful, again its good for alerting you that you can lift off, but I found it of limited use on my country road driving, and sometimes plain annoying round town.

I did find that the overrun recovery was a bit more frequent when in Eco, so I think perhaps on a long run on the motorway, Eco might be the way to go.

I did find a guide to the different modes that was very specific about the differences between Eco and Comfort, but can't find it now!

If you keep on digging, and do find it. Please share.

I don't understand how I have never once had anything over 16 miles showing as a range. Surely at 100% it should 19 miles no matter what your driving style is.

I have never had more than 20km (12.5 miles) showing as the range when fully charged.

Hi Guys,

This question may have been asked but this thread is getting big. I have a BMW 335i at the minute which is rapid. The C350e is really looking like a viable option to switch for as I really cant be without the <6sec 0-60 time but I could put this through the business too.

So the question is, is the entire ~280bhp ALWAYS available or if you've driven 100 miles and the battery has died down will you basically be on a low powered petrol engine?

278 hp ´ish always there.
will always be power in battery for driving.

What I've found so far is that even if the battery is showing 0 miles electric range there's always a bit in reserve so you'd probably still get the boost if you want it, though in all honesty it's still a quick car without.

I'm in a 3 litre twin turbo with 300bhp atm ;) I'm looking for "fast" rather than just "quicker than average". Still looks good though, weighing it up vs a BMW 330e

Did the same thing 330E vs C350E, and ended on a Merc.
No matter how you put things, 0-100 is 0-100 no matter BMW or Merc.
I had a F30 BMW my self as last car, and I am in no doubt. BMW F30 is a "better driving machine" in my opinion. There must be something else in it for you.
And yes 330E and C350E are both 4 cylinder, so you will hate the sound.
If 0-100 and 0-250 is your thing, then C350E beats the 330e by some.

As I have understood it.
At range 0 miles, there is still 20% battery power left.
Those 20% is kept as a minimum, and it will always charge to this level all the time, even on long runs.

Correct me if I am wrong :-)

Yes, the "driving machine" side of the BMW is a big draw. Test drove a c350e today and it was all very calm and light compared to the more responsive feedback of the 3er

Range....

Last night I charged the car and as I was still awake at 1am had a look at the app. Range was showing as 16 miles.

Pre heated the car to be ready at 7.05 this morning. At 7.00 it said range 14 miles, 98% battery, full charge at 7.12.

Went out to the car at 7.10, app showing 100%, CAR showing 15 miles.

Actual mileage I got this morning 9.

WHY !!!!!!

Hi

I have a document the dealer sent me see page 12 attached as picture, and also full document at link below think it is the sales guide they use

attachedhttps://www.dropbox.com/sh/zcbd8amyk1kdwv9/AACij6WEZg1iZQy8QbeZV8WNa?dl=0

The lease company sent me that PDF too, I printed it off for day one of ownership! Its still not what I was thinking of, but is a good crib guide to the 4 recovery and 5 driving modes!

I took a look at the manual last night and the C350e insert as well. They have some info on the overrun but still not what I remember seeing, really frustrating!

The obvious additions I see Eco gives you is:
- haptic pedal
- much more auto braking
- gearbox is keener to shuffle up to 7th
- I also presume there is some tweaking of the climate control

Mine is at the Dealers being PDIed today. Just sorting the money side of things out and should be looking for collection on Monday....Poss Friday if I really get my finger out.
