C350e owners club

Has anyone worked out how to get outside temperature on the small info screen in between the dials? Looking at the pictures in the handbook it is at the bottom left, but all I seem to get is kph - which is completely useless to me.

it would have been good to know if I was dealing with -3 or +1 this morning on my commute through untreated country roads. Is there a hidden sub menu somewhere?

I gotta say this thread is hilarious.

You're driving around in £40k+ Mercedes with the AC switched off to get a few more yards of 'free' motoring.

It takes all sorts I suppose

That's not forgetting the saving on fuel is negated by the fact the car costs more to begin with. Won't ever achieve anywhere near the quoted MPG and will be a total pain on resale as people don't particularly want hybrids much.

Oh and you can't get it in AMG line trim which really is the only trim level worth having.

I could go on but the bottom line is this:

The C350e is basically a salesmans dream, a fast Mercedes motorway muncher with low company car tax. I don't think many will be bought privately. Financially it just wouldn't make sense.

Highly subjective comment. Like many others, I'm a private lessor of this vehicle and am neither a salesman nor a motorway muncher. My most common commute is 6 miles each way - so I can do it all for pennies if I want to but with the power on tap for an engaging drive. Stick it in sport + and the airmatic suspension lowers whilst the gearbox and steering transform the whole experience. Show me another car that ticks those boxes.

AMG trim is fine if a tad common these days on the c-class, but I really love the sport trim and have in the space of 2 days received many compliments from car enthusiasts at the office. In premium plus trim, the cabin is as relaxed and refined a place to be as you could hope for at this price point.

Refined, sophisticated and a beast when called for. For me it really is a case of the best or nothing.

A quick wash and some spray detailer and the beauty is restored after a mucky couple of weeks on the road. At least for a couple of days!

I've booked my C350e to go back to the dealer on the 8th of Feb which is the earliest they can provide a courtesy car.

I'm loving the preheat on the car, used it this morning when there was a severe frost, (don't ask me how severe as clearly I wouldn't know :) )

Driving the car in esave mode seems to give the same fuel economy as hybrid anyway so I don't think it's a huge loss.

I've now covered about 2,800 miles and averaged 36.7 MPG which is embarrassingly low, mostly this has been with a daily charge which is no longer possible until my issue is fixed so this will decline even further.

wow, that MPG is low quonker, completely understand the power of the car etc, but dont think i could of lived with that if im honest.

I've done just over 3400 miles now and averaging 39mpg. Only got 36mpg on my last fill up though and again that's with regular plugging in. My stats are here C350e (Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid) | Fuelly - might be worth some more of you signing up so we can see how we're fairing! :) or should that be :(

Really interesting to read your stats. How aggressive do you drive?

At 12p per mile I would be recovering my costs on my mileage expenses.

Not overly aggressive! I'm actively trying to drive smoothly and keep on battery as much as possible by paying attention to the power gauge. Tend to leave it in Comfort + Hybrid for most of the time.

Love my C350e.

Motorway - 36mpg average
Commute - 75mpg average (10miles each way)

I'm not too aggressive on the pedal, and ICE only kicks in on uphill sections, with good recovery on the other side.

Car currently has a malfunction on the battery and is back with MB for an investigation.

For me it was the BIK tax level that sold it, saved me over £2k on my A3, but I only do about 8-10k miles a year.

Real figures for Autobahn in Germany doing 130 mph.
I suspect that will be high usage, needs be done!!!
If I am lucky, I will try this in February.
Depends on weather conditions.

Does anyone know what the icon of the car (top left hand side of comand screen) with the lines coming out of the roof means. I've been through the owners manual but can't find anything. IMAG0149.jpg

I Would believe it is, call back to MB, and downloading traffic info.

That's the connected services icon. Just shows its all working I believe. That's based on mine missing the icon until I'd got all the services set up a few days after collecting it.

Ah, thanks for that, I hadn't seen it before but was set up with the connect me app on Thursday, so now can set pre-entry etc now.

On a different note, I was only getting 11-12 indicated miles on a full charge, then this weekend did a 100 mile drive down to Norwich, set off back home this afternoon with no overnight charging, mpg was 45.6 compared to 48.7 on the way down. Charged the car when I got in and now have a 17 mile range!!

Maybe the battery and engine need to work and discharge over a longer period than my usual 5 mile commute each way

Car due for delivery this morning!! ;o) Will post pictures once I get out of it..

I wondered that as well. At first I thought my mate had touched some button or other when he was having a sit in it, then I just guessed it was something to do with the connected services. What we need is a nice diagram showing all the possible icons and their meaning.

Its arrived and managed to grab half an hour to take out for a spin.. I was mighty impressed, I wasn't expecting it to feel quite so fast and despite no charge when it arrived I was able to do a couple of miles in electric only after a play. Now on charge for a couple of hours until I can sneak out again..:thumb:

Couple of quick pics of the delivery

Interesting reading thanks.

I've just done some calcs.
My first three fill ups with inconsistent (only 6 times) charging and lots of motorway miles have yielded 36MPG (UK!). This was still running in the engine and across 856 miles. Also fully laden with partner and xmas baggage!

I'm currently on my first typical usage stint. I've charged it each evening, and doing my 9 mile commute, no long distances, and I'm driving one up.
I'd imagine this should yield my best possible MPG. I'm driving mainly in Hybrid/Comfort as my commute is a mix of town and country roads and I figure accelerating to 60mph is more efficient with petrol than electric?
Will update when I next refill.

Nice car above, congrats.

Right an update on my latest refill, a bit of a shocker!

I've been charging every night, and doing mostly my short commute of 9 miles each way.
I've managed to achieve 41.8 actual MPG over 33miles, which isn't too bad.

However as my electric rate is 13.33p/kWh, and with 13 charges I get an additional £10.70 of electric put in it. This worked out at just over 14p per mile or 0.5-1p/mile worse than my first three uncharged fillups!
I'm glad the MPG has gone up but I would have though the total cost per mile have gone down to match?

When I do a pure electric vs 35MPG with pure petrol, electric is about 25% cheaper. More monitoring required

On a much more exciting note, I finally delved into sport+ mode over the weekend. Wow is it fast, out of the corners it goes like a stabbed rat. My first licence worrier

EDIT: Oh and attempting to get my connect me activated but dealer has asked for lease company input....
