C350e owners club

I've run into the lease/connect me issue. Dealer wouldn't activate without confirmation from leaser. Lease company are claiming they don't support it on "data protection" grounds... I've sent a logical and reasoned argument email back, so will see where it gets me...

Took it for another long run yesterday, I wasn't particularly watching but from Leeds to Doncaster I managed to charge 40% of battery going motorway speeds, must be downhill!
Then gave it another blast on the country roads near me, it smile inducingly fast. I even discovered I wasn't pressing the pedal all the way!

Maybe try another dealer? I called into my local dealer and they never asked any questions even though they hadn't supplied the car. Mines a Lex vehicle and I understood they were quite strict on the issue but it appears it can be circumvented!

The connect me services are worth having. Until we get a charging socket installed in our site car park I'm parking for a couple of hours in a public car park next door for a quid. I can see from the page when the car is due to finish charging and move it when it's done.

Yeah, that's my argument with them exactly. To be honest, I'm not fussed about anything else (geofencing, oil pressure!, remote locking) all I want is the charging info and preheat function.

It makes a massive difference if you can't see when your car is done charging.

Can I ask where your friendly dealer was? PM if you want.

Good luck with the Leeds dealership.... they were the ones which told me last year around Aug time they would not enable it due to the lease companies say so.

The dealer will also get a right rollocking too if they enable it without the "owners permission" ie lease company.... then the driver in breach of the lease terms....

I managed to get it switched on easily with our lease company.
I suppose they couldn't really say no as when I ordered the car, it was an option, and I am now having to pay for it out my own pocket for the next 3 years (as it was one of the options that took me over budget)
spoke to a friend who works for ford and he said it was standard that if an extra became standard, you pay based on point of order, not point of delivery.

It was standard when i ordered, plus i ordered and paid for remote online @ £150, but they advised it would not be enabled regardless due to policy.

They could not refund the £150 either as it would need re quoting and the prive had gone up!

My dealer is Northampton, so quite some way from Leeds, but it may be worth you trying others in the area?

Have you already registered for the services on the site and input your vin number etc? Once I'd done that all I had to do was call in at my dealer to get them to activate it.

Lex sent a communication recently reaffirming their position. Guess they've been receiving lots of requests and complaints about not enabling it all.

Strange all our fleet cars are with Lex through an intermediary and they are all enabled. I'd get hold of your Lex account manager and fleet manager and ask for an explanation.

No issues for me, mine's not with Lex...
I work for an intermediary and we have Lex as a funder, hence receiving the communication.

Question: is pre-entry climate control via the Mercedes me app the same thing as 'pre-heat' that people are discussing in this thread?

Yep all sorted on the site, dealer reckoned it was an over the phone job...

Yeah, Northampton is a way from me, I've got a couple of others I can try.

If its activated by the dealer can you not just ring the Northampton dealer and ask them to activate if for you without calling in or do they need to plug the car in?

I'm not sure, I thought it was a plug in job. I'm still charging from inside the house currently so not super urgent.

Its an pure aktivate your account = VIN number in MB system. Good luck :-)

Is there anybody out there?

Dealer activated mine via T'internet, I'd already preregistered with my VIN etc but nothing works until they enable it.

Has anybody any tips on getting the data connection to an android phone working with their w205. I can get it to see my phone but device status is offline!

Have you enabled Bluetooth data share under tethering and portable hotspot? You need the hotspot set to on for it to work.

Yep, just had another go with the phone (moto x) attached via USB. Can see the phone but just says offline. I tried tethering my tablet through the phone and all OK, looks like something not quite connecting between car and phone...

350e

Hi

got my 350e estate yesterday and it is superb to drive - i have charged it twice at a GMEV power point that is 5 mins walk from me - i commute 8 miles a day so hopefully will be able to get my drives for free but it does seem to discharge very quickly!

Is there a particular way to drive that maximizes the battery life?

I will get some pics soon

Frank
