C350e owners club

Top two dynamic routing events so far:
1. Off a dual carriageway, onto a slip road, 2nd exit at the roundabout, down the slip road back into the dual carriageway, avoiding about 30 seconds of tailback. I was waiting for the satnav to say "you have a flash German car, so drive like a knob", but the audio was switched off
2. Off the M1 to avoid a tailback that had been steadily reducing as I approached. Failed to follow the alternative route instructions properly. Route recalculated: back to the M1 - no traffic delays on route

Not working for me yet...

Number 1 happened to me yesterday in Bristol. I could see what it was up to though cos there were plenty of others who I've seen do it before. Wonder if they've got the same excuse...

Hi Derek

Right in the middle seems the best and works fine so far. I think the important thing is that the key has to be with you when you're there so it can detect it.

Lambsie

I couldn't get the thing to work until I realised I was bringing my foot back too quickly. Now it works every time.

I got mine to work once, but have struggled since. I've even been under the car trying to locate the sensor, but can't find it!

A while ago I mentioned my satnav had offered to show me nearby filling stations when my petrol was low.
There were a few replies from people saying they had never seen it.
It looks like you might need to turn this on in the Command settings:

Help with colours please.

In process of ordering a 350e estate in standard sport spec, really unsure on which colour works best for this car. Also does the sport include tinted rear windows or is this ordered as an extra. Pics or advice welcome.

Tints are only available as an option - not part of any package

I have an obsidian black saloon with tints and (imo) I think it looks good. I don't think the estate with tints in the same colour looks right - I think that Brilliant Blue looks really good on both estates and saloons - I didn't go with it as the salesman convinced me that the grey leather I really wanted wouldn't look right with it. My previous CLS was in diamond silver which I think really suited the car and didn't show every bit of dirt as does the obsidian.

Brief article nay be of interest - https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/mercedes-c-class-colours-guide-034

First post here (but a lurker for some time) so please be gentle.
After originally choosing Brilliant Blue and no tints, I saw one in the flesh and changed my mind. I thought the chrome around the windows was a bit 'in-your-face' and the colour a bit dull when dirty.

I've always like white cars, and based on my 4 years with a white Golf, you can get away with infrequent cleaning. So I changed my order to polar white (looked at Diamond white; looked great in the sunshine but a bit creamy versus the polar, and expensive). I specd the night pack to add tints and remove most of the chrome.

Whether it will look (1)sharp (2)like a drug dealers car who couldn't afford an AMG or (3) like a Munich taxi, remains to be seen. No pictures on line and I'm sure the MB car configurator is too flattering.

Mid December delivery expected after a mid November build in SA.

I've got the estate in blue with tinted rear Windows, very happy with the look but there is a lot of chrome even more on the estate as there is chrome roof bars!

White 350e with night package

Mines on order, dealer didn't have anything in stock to look at but found these on line. Polar white with night pack.

Thought I'd share as images not widely available.

Mine's the same, with the silvery grey leather and brown wood.
Works very well I think.

Got my car last Thursday (10 month wait) - white, premium +, night package

Not driven a few 100 miles so still getting used to settings and buttons

Nearly two years into my sat nav experience with my C250 and I've binned it off. Serious lack of traffic awareness and woeful ability to handle a deviation from the stated route when I know better than the unit. Google maps on my phone is far more accurate and adaptable.

However on the 350e its worth using the satnav even on journeys you know well regardless of minor niggles because the system will use information on your intended destination to decide when it's best to switch to/from battery/petrol.

I'm sticking in anything over a 30 minute drive into mine and then just ignore the directions. The car then has the bigger picture about where I'm going and in theory should optimise my drive in terms of fuel economy even if I deviate from the calculated route.

That's a fair call for journey planning. Just poor that a system in expensive cars is outperformed by cheaper / free units and apps for its core duties

Did I hear that COMAND will support Apple CarPlay in the future? The joy of Apple Maps awaits!

I'm not so sure about Google maps. I've always thought it was very optimistic about arrival time and I've never had a big data contract so I don't like the idea of the constant downloads.

Indeed, the new E class supports apple carplay ... no word on whether the C can be updated to enable the feature, but MB don't have a good history on that kind of thing ...

I read somewhere (US site I recall) that it is an absolute NO for the C Class in its current form. So no retrofit of Apple CarPlay. Perhaps future facelifts may allow it.

Google maps is extremely accurate in my experience. When using it on my phone it shows sections of roads in orange and red to indicate slow and extremely slow traffic respectively so it knows an awful lot about current road conditions based on real time data (real time minus about 15 minutes lag)

Sigh: Mercedes-Benz Apple CarPlay Compatible Vehicle List ? CarPlay Life ? Apple CarPlay News, Installs, Apps and Reviews

What the hell is a "special USB port"? It wouldn't surprise me to see Android and iOS operating systems in cars in the future, but that would bring a whole new meaning to crashing so maybe it's not so bad that we haven't got them now!
