C63 507 Caught Fire!!!

Strongly suggest asking the investigating dealer to look at whether the advisory regarding the oil seal was applied.

Certainly suggest your mate who has out his rental fleet in for checking does the same.

Ha Ha. yes indeed. My Range Rover caught light on the A66 and brought the place to a standstill. Completely burnt out. Luckily nobody hurt (I also had my wife and kids in the car).

Dieselman may be on the right track.

In my case it was diagnosed as an ATF pipe spraying oil onto the cats. Once that started nothing was going to stop it as the sound deadening caught light. Total Loss.

Thought people were here to help on the forum.

4 years BA Hons, 1 year MA 1 year LPC
And for those that can't count that's 6

That's what this forum used to be about, now it's about whinging, moaning and picking fault with everything.

I agree DM there's far to much scratchiness these days.

I asked Mr 6 years at law school a very simple question after he posted his opinion on the OP's position. My feeling is that the OP needs a lot more information before he knows what his option are. Nobody yet knows what the cause of the fire was, we have to wait for more information.

So when EJUK announces from the Mount: "Legally MB have the right to either repair and fix or replace outright. You could argue you have lost faith in said car and want full refund. Latter option would probably go through civil courts."

I thought it was reasonable to ask:"What do you base these statements on?" A perfectly simple and straight forward question. I wondered how he was in a position to make such an emphatic declaration and thought that perhaps he knew something we did not. But no, it was based on: "6 years at law school". One of the snippiest replies I've seen for a while and perhaps magnified because it was the third post made by EJUK.

In the usual course of events I would have left it at that. However, next thing we get is: "Thought people were here to help on the forum." Extraordinary!

Well Mr EJUK, people on this forum do help a lot, but they are also (usually) reasonable polite. IMHO you have failed the attitude test.

Really ?

I have found it consistently useful.

Still clearly for some nostalgia is not what it used to be .......

Especially if you only have a short duration to compare to.

Seem to be more and more members ( new ) with an attitude these days.

Witness my contribution on the xenon led foglight thread ...

I offer a bit of advice , and then i'm told that 'the question was ...'

The forum is not what it used to be , that's for sure. A real shame. :(

There should be a sticky for these childish arguments. One of the reasons I don't visit much anymore.

Lol - this forum has not changed a bit.

In a weird sort of way it's refreshing 'sometimes' to see the way virtually every thread warps into something completely askew from it's original topic.

Would love to see you guys around a pub table discussing topics...

I'll get the sandbag hung up from the ceiling.

:)

On topic - OP scary stuff. - Let's see what MB come back with.

DM - is that a thanks for the post or a thanks for not visiting much anymore?

You know I'm joking!!!!!!

Its not just Mercs that catch fire !!

Hi Peeps, this is a Volvo rolling road day i went to, Power Engineering, Uxbridge, fast forward to 8mins 25 sec's , here you will see a 1998 v70r Catch alight on the roller's.

The cause was a oil leak from the turbo return it sprayed up and landed on the exhaust housing of the turbo doh!! then up it went.

The car has been taken to MB in Stoubridge.

It will be checked out by MB`s investigation team from Milton keynes.

In the meantime got the S350 courtesy car today first thing.....a smooth ride.

MB breakdown and Mercedes have been really helpful so far and kept me in the loop on what will happen next etc. Should hopefully hear something by close of play tomorrow from the invesigation team.
