C63 507 Model Register

Common issue on virtually all diamond cut alloys, ”worming” often starts from around the centre cap , or any stone chips. Not sure what AUC warrenty is 🤔 I’m still looking for a swap for my original Black 507 alloys.

Cant advise on decat and Warrenty but if you don’t declare to your insurer they could void any claim.

It’s worth asking , but as I recall MB Warrenty on alloys is 2 years on “manufacturing faults“. Finding a diamond cut alloy 5/6 years old without some degree of corrosion developing under the lacquer Is quite rare no matter which brand you are looking at. A previous VW Started corroding from the centre cap after a couple of years.

Hey Buddy, I bought mine from a main dealer a year ago, then had my secondary cat deleted last July, from that date I have had approx. £15K of warranty work approved and completed, So from personal experience it hasn't affected my warranty in anyway buddy. Hope that helps///
P.S if you are going for a cat delete make sure you have a good quality one fitted that can be removed so the CAT can be refitted without anyproblems, I have a Milltek one that is sleeved and bolted in place... some cheaper options are permanently welded in.

I’ve not tried this, so can’t vouch for it personally, but it may be of interest to some...

The Unique Way I Clean My Exhaust Tips — DriveTribe

I think it comes down to how you define “clean” 🤔 From experience some wire wool , Autosol, old tee shirts and plenty of Meguires Gold Class Elbow grease works just fine 👍 Unfortunately Elbow Grease appears to be out of fashion with a lot of folk who don’t like using it 😂😂😂

I watched to the end and didn’t think they were especially clean🤔

Today I cleaned my tips inside with.........Cillit Bang.
I kid you not.
1. Spray inside the tips. Leave for 10 mins
2. Work around with whatever you have to hand. For me a steel pipe cleaner type brush. Wet it before using.
3. Wipe out the cack with a damp cloth.
4. Go back to 1. and repeat.
5. Go back to 1. and repeat.
6. Polish tips and rims with Brasso
7. Go back to 6. and repeat.
8. Test for inner cleanliness with white rag.
9. Kin El it's clean.

The natural inner surfaces aren't shiny but I suppose you could improve the finish with a flapper on your drill.
Might have a go.

Thanks for the photo , looks good against the new green 👍. I wasn’t aware that a gloss black diffuser was a factory option, but i learn something new every day 🤔 👍. I know there are two different plastics used by MB for the diffuser. My original C63 was a white smooth base plastic painted with “crinkle“ finish black paint To give it a matt texture , it had started to flake off where it meets the bumper. My 507 has a different type of plastic which is black all the way through with a textured finish moulded into it .

Andy
There wasn't an option to specify a different rear diffuser for the 507 or standard C63 as far as I can see in the price list from that era. Suspect it must've been a one-off custom made diffuser. Never seen a smooth, shiny diffuser on any another 507.

Lee. There was definitely two materials used by MB on the C63 rear diffuser, my first C63 had what appeared to be a smooth white plastic which had a black textured paint applied, it had started to flake in a couple of small areas where the diffuser meets the bumper And you could see the white plastic. My 507 has a moulded black plastic which has the”texture” imprinted into the surface. If yours is the the ”painted” type someone may have decided to go gloss black at some point , probably easier than trying to get the correct black textured finished. Just my thoughts.

your most likely correct Andy. It's had 2 owners so must have been painted Bu the previous owner to match the other gloss black.

Onto another subject.. Side decals.
remember a while back i was trying to get the oem decals copied? We'll they have finally been dome now in OEM Mactac and being fitted tomorrow.. Although extended as the oem ones are too short by 30mm

If anybody is planning on attending the “Virtual“ meeting on Sunday (Link above) don’t forget to post a favourite picture of your 507 👍
