C63 507 Model Register

Andy1a2b
I've now picked up the wheels so as promised this is where I found them. It's a private Facebook group called: C63 AMG UK - Classified- Cars- Parts- For Sale

They're not perfect but they are in very good condition and I'm a happy bunny.

Looks like it had Himalaya Grey alloys which have had the ā€œstealthā€ black finish , centre caps too šŸ¤”

And was it available on both 507 edition and regular models?

Don't Think it was buddy, pretty sure it was just 507.. I'll check my build sheet again and get the option code

I know, had to keep them a secret I'm afraid! ;)
Sorry Im a bit late to the conversation, but is there no one in the UK that can mill the lip and logo in the same way as OE supplier? Anyone know who the original OE supplier is?

Hi. The 507 alloys are made by App Tech in Italy , part of the Ronal Group. Iā€™ve spoken to a local CNC guy whoā€™s a car enthusiast and you need a BIG 5 axis milling machine to do a 19 inch rim , not many about that size. Each wheel would need hours of work just getting it set up on the machine , the minute difference from wheel to wheel mean each one needs individually setting up, and no one would want to give any guarantee on a rim. Bottom line is it would be as cheap to buy a new set. So if youā€™ve got black alloys and want to keep them OEM AVOID kerbs and potholes šŸ˜±

The route Lee is looking to take with his ā€œOption 1ā€œ looks the most practical way to get an OEM look to the finish. šŸ‘šŸ˜Š

Iā€™m pretty fastidious when it comes to avoiding kerbs, but Sodā€™s law if I had a set of these wheels I would end up needing a Refurb.

As Yex said , itā€™s the silver lip which is the problem, you can see the marks left by the 5 Axis milling machine during manufacture. Most of the black 507 alloys end up being finished all black and loose the silver lip. As of yesterday Iā€™ve definitely seen a Unicorn (albeit an inflatable plastic one) but Iā€™ve never seen a black 507 alloy refurnished to the OEM finish. ā˜¹

That is a very cool finish....but seeing these photos makes you appreciate just how hard it would be to refurb them to look as new....getting the definition of the lip if you have to smooth away some kerb rash will be a nightmare.

The photo of the AMG logo shows the 5 axis machine cutting tool marks really nicely, hand finishing looks like the most practical option for an OEM finish but will require quite a bit of skill to get everything painted evenly šŸ¤”

or you could have a go with a dremel?!? Would require a lot of patience!!

If there was a machine shop in the UK that was willing to perfect the process I guess there would be a few potential customers.

Hi there, have been flirting with the idea of a C63 507 Estate for a while....keep my eye on the classifieds, but thought I would check the forums. If your car is still for sale would be good to discuss...

Hi, sorry for the late reply! Yes I still have the car and yesterday itā€™s still potentially for sale. Let me know if want more info or would like to discuss...

Hi there Nigel, thanks for the response. Iā€™ve not worked out how to PM on this forum, maybe I donā€™t have the privileges due to being new? If you can PM me your mobile or email I will get in touch.

I thought you could send private messages when you reached 30 posts ?

Hi lads,

Really enjoying my 507 especially with this weather!

Few questions for you guys, one of my wheels has somehow got some slight worming under the lacquer near the centre of the wheel. No damage or stone chips, do you think I could claim for this under a AUC warranty?

Also on the warranty subject, would a secondary decat affect my warranty? I'm struggling to get anything concrete out of my service manager.

Thanks

Common issue on virtually all diamond cut alloys, ā€wormingā€ often starts from around the centre cap , or any stone chips. Not sure what AUC warrenty is šŸ¤” Iā€™m still looking for a swap for my original Black 507 alloys.

Cant advise on decat and Warrenty but if you donā€™t declare to your insurer they could void any claim.
