Thank you Steve, that's re-assuring, but it's a dilemma now , do I refurb them and risk them not looking as original or stick with the laquer issue.Looks genuine but they've already been refurbed before as the recess is almost gone. Next diamond cut it will go.
The black wheels are different in that the lip isn't machined flat, it has a concave profile that can only be machined with a very specialist CNC machine.
In my innocence I had thought as the wheels were undamaged the old laquer could be just be removed chemically and a new coat applied without having to re-cut the wheels.
