C63 507 Model Register

I did aswell, they are a pretty basic car practicality aside they are very nose heavy, didn't help having p zeros on they are alot wider than you think yes they are fast but the build quality isn't where it should be considering the price they do sound nice but nothing compared to the 63 tbh it was a little bit of a let down and you could easily get bored of it and the v6 is a nono for me if you are tall you will feel cramped ( as for all 2 seaters) my dad is 6ft4 and hated getting in and out of it
The v6 is also nose heavy as its the same engine with 2 cylinders blanked off
I dont daily the 63 but it came out top in most of my requirements. Hope this helps

Thanks for the summary. It's interesting to hear that they don't sound as good as the C63 - I always thought that was one area where they might excel. The AWD version also particularly appeals to me.

I've never driven a lambo ,the R8 is a very capable car and does exactly what you want it to do (drive very fast) but as you say the practicality is an issue plus the doors are huge if money was no object id have 1 tomorrow rather than a lambo which in fairness is way out of my league. the M4 comp was good fun but abit to track focused plus the rep is awful the E93 was the biggest mistake ive ever done if you drive above 5k everywhere then its a good car the dct box was sharp but in the back of your head at 8k rpm you are waiting for it to go bang if you change gear when your head tells you too they are lacking in torque which the AMG has a boot full of 😀
The Gallardo (E-Gear) seemed excited and raring to go compared to the R8 which was more reserved at lower speeds. If I could have one, it'd be the Lambo! (But the manual) :P I'm glad you're enjoying the W205 though, plan to keep it long term?

AWD over RWD pal? Any particular reason for that?

Nothing more scientific than I get frustrated at not being able to get the power down in my C63 Estate (on PS4S tyres) unless conditions are dry and warm and I'd welcome the greater traction of 4WD (I do a lot of road trips to North Wales where it always seems to be drizzling lol)

As of now I think its staying, I do enjoy driving it 😀 as for Manual yes please as my dad says you were born with 2 legs use them ,(now that is old fashioned )

Have you considered something like the E63? These newer ones have 4matic but with like a 'drift' mode so you get the best of both worlds if you want a car that does everything 🤷‍♂️

Haha your old man has a point! If either the W204 or 05 came with a manual, I think I'd have gone with that over the auto box in a heartbeat!

Don't give up, they're absolutely worth it.

Want to sell it yet?!

I think you're spot on about the practicality... in my experience the R8 is definitely not a daily car unless you always go from A to B without going near any towns or cities, and don't need to park on a road or in a parking space! As you say, huge doors make it a bit of a nightmare for parking and it's fairly difficult to get in and out of like many supercars. But as a second car, it's great fun!

Which one? As tempting as what I seem to be able to flip it for in less than 9 months may be, at this point the 507 is more likely to leave than the GT3.

Seen your struggles on Pistonheads and 911uk, hopefully you'll find one soon. That or look at a 996 GT3, as they seem to be appreciating at the same rate and there's some nice examples cropping up and selling slower. RPM have a nice black one at the moment.

It would have been for the GT3!

Yes I do know of a few potentials coming up but everyone's un-sure! I have seen some other cars I may move on too instead but I fear I will regret not holding out.

Did you see the blue 997.2 on CC a week or so ago?

Just a note to say I no longer own my 507 Coupe. It was traded in (at a great price) to Grant Kirby for the Hell Green AMG GTR he had available. It all happened very quickly as I had only gone to see the GTR out of interest as the spec was exactly what I would have ordered from new, but the pictures did not do the car justice and I just had to have it. My 507 was on his website for about an hour before it sold and is going to it's new owner somewhere near Birmingham in the next day or two.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my ownership of the 507 and the help this forum and thread have provided to me over the years. I'll keep dropping by and posting where I have something useful to add and hope to catch up with a few of you at meets like BOTG as the years moves on.

What joy it must be to play at the high end of the market. Bring the GTR to one or two of our Private Lounge meets.
