C63 507 Model Register

Finally got my ebay sourced used-but-genuine 507 wheels fitted.
Was nice to get under the car whilst up on the ramp, looks new under there!
Yes, yes, I know they lack the proper diamond cut, but I’m very happy with them nonetheless. The sun came out today, big shock, so I thought I’d rush out and take some pics before it rains again...

Looking Good Fella, … Just need to do the brake calipers now;);).

I take full credit for convincing you in the first place.

Them calipers is stayin’ red !

IMG_2527.jpg Morning, does anyone know what sort of security fitting this is? One on either side of the rear diffuser and not so easy to get at, so I think having the right bit is crucial as damaging it with the wrong one would leave you with a real headache. Thanks in advance. Simon.

Indeed, thanks for the tip off Dan.

Rocky, I paid £900 for them. Frankly, I think that was a steal!

I have to agree that is steal!

I did see them on eBay but wanted another set of silvers!

I am now thinking of getting w205 19inch 5 spoke wheels they seem solid and I think a few people are running them on the forum. Just use them in the winter and the 507 wheels in the summer!

Thank you - love the look and I think it suits the car.... just a real pain to keep looking its best. Cheers

Agreed I have to wash it weekly! I hate the birds around in Surrey

The only downside to the 205 wheels is the low front offset. At ET38 and 8.5J they stick out 13.4mm more than standard. It works no problem but ideally for me would be a bit less. The rear is perfect and only sticks out 4.4mm more. Therefore, you are increasing the front track by 18mm more relative to the rear. In theory a wider front track means less understeer though...

I assume though they are more robust compared to the OEM multi spokes?

Also, does that affect the speedo?

I have not had any issues with them buckling or cracking and I think they're a bit lighter than the 19" multi-spokes.

No issues with speedo as they are the same diameter. I'm using 245/35 and 265/30 which is a perfect fit given they are 0.5" wider all round.

All Just realised I should have started A NEW POST/THREAD FOR THIS instead of barging in on this one. My apologies.

Isn’t that a rivet of some sort

Might be although the head shape seems too specific for a rivet. Crazy as there is only one at each side of the diffuser but difficult to get at, can't get the diffuser off without removing these. There is a YouTube video of someone removing the diffuser on a C63 but it says these fittings are torx which they clearly are not. Not sure if the 507 is different from the standard C63 for this fitting - for the time being I am stumped. Thanks.

Afaiw the diffusers are the same across the board, haven’t got around to changing mine yet but I would imagine yours may have been off at one point and different fixings used

Looks like the pin of the plastic rivet has been pushed in too far so you can't lever it out. Might have to sacrifice the fitting and wrench it out with pliers.

Have you got a problem with the diffuser or swapping for a different one ?

Chaps,

What is the collective wisdom in keeping our nice Alcantara steering wheels spick n span ?
