C63 507 Model Register

Just putting the reg in GoCompare throws it up as C63 Coupe. Hard to see how anyone could have bought it as an Edition 507 :dk:

It has a black (sprayed?) intake, and was told by the place he purchased from that it was discounted due to the blistering, was on 13,000 miles at this point so a 507 with that mileage a year ago would’ve been quite expensive

Real shame if the owner has been sold it as a 507 when it isn’t. I always do a lot of research before buying a car to ensure I know what I am getting and what to look for to confirm it is what I want and also what to look for with regards to possible issues etc so perhaps the guy was just a little too enthusiastic when the car was offered to him. From what has been said so far I imagine any damage was caused by a previous owner who didn’t want to claim on insurance and baulked at the price of genuine 507 parts if it is indeed a 507 underneath.

I’m not a lawyer but if the car was misrepresented in the adverts could he get his money back despite the time between buying it and being told it is not a 507 ?

That’s what I’m thinking Yex^

It’s on a post on Facebook, although the comments seem like a witch hunt on the bloke just trying to see if it is a genuine one, which I’m not in the belief it is, and that it was mis-sold. I’ve asked for more pics but the black and white data on the car says it’s nothing but a regular one... I didn’t even see any performance pack items on the data card. Essentially lost £8000 in one year!

I’m hoping there is some form of legal procedure against the garage if that is the case, but the owner is either busy or giving vague answers about the car

The V5 should read model - “C63 AMG Edition 507 Auto” if it is a 507, sadly that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Often AutoTrader will return non-507 cars when searching for a 507. This is because it just uses key words so people who put phrases such as 507 decals or 507 bonnet on 507 wheels in their advert will show up.
Usually the lower price gives it away.

Price paid was a considerable amount higher than what it should of been but not as high as 507 pricing, so I’m thinking there was some debate, I know I’d of looked twice at it to be sure!

I remember before buying mine when I was looking and HPI checking things, I found one facelift which came up as a DR520... which were only available in prefacelift and also one that came up as a 507 but it was a prefacelift! Both on autotrader, perhaps lazy advertising by the dealers as you can copy and paste details and models on there and can mess it right up if you’re complacent with it

As soon as I’ve finished fluffing my steering wheel I’ll be polishing my tailpipe...

I can now officially advise that fluffing your steering wheel is preferable to polishing your tailpipe/s! Hard work but the wire wool and autosol does improve flow - seriously, they look a lot better now - not perfect but acceptable. The only way to get them right is to remove the exhaust and drill polish - too big a job and on this basis and the metal is fissured, better to replace and weld new ones on. Thanks for the advise and tips.

Cheers guys, I had a feeling. Sadly I think he overpaid for it last year especially if you see the estimate price for it now, it’s probably more depreciation than anything I’ve seen in 1 year!
No comeback on the sellers description being wrong or inaccurate?

I'm still looking for a 507 estate or saloon if anyone knows of of a decent example for sale?

Good luck. It took me around a year to find one!
