I just looked at the approved used website, filtered to C63 saloon, and sorted to show lowest cost first. Of the 3 cars I looked at, 2 specifically quote full service history on the "Services" tab. Is your car still listed, or do you have a screenshot of the advert?

The TLA FSH is prominent in adverts for a reason.

To the vast majority of buyers, it's very important.

I'm an enthusiast and I've never once looked at service history and added any value to the car for having it, sorry. Maybe it's because I was a mechanic, maybe it's because I build engines for fun, maybe it's just because I know that a dealer service is genuinely no better than a guy doing it on his driveway in most cases, but to me, this is a bargaining chip for the OP now, but not a problem for resale. You'd walk away from it in two years time, whereas I'd buy it without blinking.

I suppose my worry would be turning off potential buyers come resale - as not all your buyers will be mechanically-minded.

I don't doubt what you say at all - indeed in some cases I know main dealers to be far worse than individuals / independents but when you sell a car - you want it to appeal to the widest possible audience and with missing history - that would sound alarm bells to many.

Although I can remember posting on here to those looking at older "lower-value" AMGs (those which I would consider you are taking a punt on based on the value to my mind relative to the original price of the car from new), that the current running condition is important, I would still recommend a history so you can build up a picture of the history of the kind of car and the wider picture.

They deleted it pretty sharpish and it's gone from pistonheads etc...bugger!

I agree with hollow point I am now a retired workshop manager being in the trade 36 years working on all types makes of vehicles and feel as long as engine oil and filter are changed regularly then the rest can be picked up on the mot , granted there are things like air filter but heavy fuel consumption will flag this up and MB garages charging £500 for the first b service at 7000 miles I feel is a bit rich

Just out of curiosity when I bought my c63 the dealers stated they no longerbuse paper service books, is this correct as I don't have one?

I have literally just hd the same situation. Purchased an approved used C63 via Mercedes Chesterfield and before shaking hands was told it had full service history. Signed the agreement, paid a large deposit and then........asked for a print out of the detailed service history. Turned out the car had missed its first A service.
Called MB UK as well as another MB dealer, both said the car shouldn't have been for sale on a Mercedes forecourt as an approved used vehicle. MB UK even pushed for me to make a formal complaint.
Did more research, spoke to other dealers and all said the same thing. Not worth what I paid, would affect residual value, concerns about why it hd been missed etc. the dealer was contemplating giving me £2k back but I just wasn't comfortable with it not having FSH.
1 day later I found an even better example of a C63 and tomorrow's collection day . Everything happens for a reason eh?
Even if you have taken collection of the car you have good grounds to return/exchange the vehicle.

Yes, they use a digital service record, available from a dealer.

No service books as stated. :(

All electronic though you can ask for a copy of it...

I was fine when they told me but seeing this thread made me think about it, hope the op gets it sorted!

We buys cars of this age all the time for our stock and it's not uncommon for services to be missing off the Digital Service Book (DSB). Some dealerships don't correctly sync their own system with the one at head office and hence info is sometimes missing.

The other reason is that if a car is serviced by a dealership prior to sale, this service for some stupid reason won't be on the DSB. So with regard to the car the OP has purchased, as it's got 3 owner prior to you it is quite possible the car has previously been sold as an approved used twice before and had the services carried out pre delivery.

If you want to get to the bottom of it, call MB head office at Milton Keynes, their customer services team should be able to tell you if any services have been omitted from the DSB and/or what dealerships previously sold the car. Then contact the relevant dealer for info.

Hope that helps.

I was informed by mercedes benz birmingham that they switched to digital service records in 2012, i have seen a 2012 62 plate C63 with a service book.

Most w204's from "08" onwards are on the DSB. Some owners do like to have a paper book and these would be in addition to the DSB and can be ordered and stamped by dealers and specialists that may not have access to the digital system.
