Car suggestions please (other than mercedes)

300 miles from one tank.. bit painful... maybe i wanna avoid this scenario...

im looking again at the 640d

640D is a great choice. ;) 0% APR at the moment.

You'll get:

Rare car
Brilliant fuel economy
The best gearbox in the business
Great tech
Properly rapid
Well sorted ride

New order will get the new Nav system, and you gotta have the soft close doors. Rear cam a must as been mentioned. Alcantara roof lining well worth it. :thumb:

5GT is an amazing car, but drop the run flats.

I have done around 12000 miles in a 530d GT and it is probably the best all round non M BMW in the range at the moment.

The new 3 GT may get me back into a BMW when it arrives.

You need a 330d m sport touring with adaptive drive or a 204 used cheapie so bad it's unreal

I took out a 330d with adaptive drive, saloon though, and it was very good, but it had 19" wheels and felt that let it down a bit, would prefer 18s or even 17s for more compliance.

However, the 3 GT will give a more relaxed drive, and a load more space while still keeping that BMW feel, and I have to say the looks of the 3GT are really growing on me....

335i M-Sport with adaptive drive will be an amazing car.

What a stunning looking car, I would love to drive that.

A cousin has a 3.0 diesel XF, which is a fantastic drive, and the XJ is absolutely gorgeous. I want one!

so i do love the new gl.. and the offer online yday was incredible, and i spoke to keith, and its genuine and correct.

I asked wifey if she liked the gl 350 AMG, she said, yes, lo and behold.. but its a bit too big for comfort.. arghh... but its a great proposition to think of :)

The ultimate "green" car...Fisker Karma...65MPG, taking orders in the U.K. now, but may never deliver..so not to worry about the price !!!!

Or as someone else posted a Maserati GT or Quattroporte...

Meets all of your requirements...

Again, as Barry knows the US electric car boys are such a good option.. if it was right hand drive and the infrastructure was better

Personally I prefer the slightly more elegant lines of the Tesla S.... but again, needs to be RHD with better infrastructure here... :)

Tesla and Fisker are both in trouble.

Fisker received a USD$500M Department of Energy loan guarantee to purchase a closed GM assembly plant in Wilmington DE. USA
Took the money and never truly opened the plant...used part of the money to develop the Karma in Finland.

Both Tesla and Chevrolet Volt have a propensity to catch fire ala Boeing Dreamliner whilst just parked !

Electric cars have a long way to go to be practical...:thumb:

Range Rover sport supercharged! Only if you can justify the stupendous fuel bill though.

Ok.. to add one more thing to mix, i want to be achieving decent fuel efficiency..

to me.. if i fill up £100 of fuel, i do want 500-650 miles out of it..

So 34-44 mpg? Assuming 149.9p per litre.

How realistic that is depends upon your driving style and typical usage patterns.

All of the diesel suggestions, even SUVs, should achieve that unless you're more than say 80% stop/start city driving.

Its a Shame it cannot be a merc.

CLS or CLS SB is perfect

Test Drove the new RR Vogue in Hadley Wood /Barnet

this car is seriously amazing.. as in.. i take back alot of what i said, the looks have grown on me, its sleek, very elegant and in darker metallic finishes, one of the nicest cars available..

however, it is too big, so i rule this and the gl out.. and its too pricey..

however, we have a RR sport test drive for tomorrow hopefully... current shape, new black series diesel.. lets see how this goes.. and what deals they have on it..
