After a year long love hate relationship (I loved the car but hated its breakdowns and depreciation) I have now gone all sensible and sold it today.

I will be sad to see it go, as its a great piece of engineering, and such a fast car with so much power that almost nothing else can touch, and had some very memorable experiences with the car at Bruntingthorpe and in Germany.

The painful bit was the price.... I sold for £62,000, one year on after I paid £100,000 for it, equal to £3166 per month in depreciation!!

On the plus side this weekend the following arrives ready for approx one year's service (based on average time of me keeping a car!):

Will be interesting to see how they compare, and how it goes.

wow, thats a lot of money to loose in 1 year! ouch!

hope the new car makes up for the loss!!!

ooh Matt - how gorgeous is that!!!

Look forward to the tales I'm sure we can expect to hear:p

Hi Matt,
Great looking car. Somehow that depreciation on my CLK55 doesn't seem that bad anymore! Ouch!
Look forward to seeing the new beauty in the near future.
Mac.

That CL will make an excellent buy for soemone now that the value has dropped.
How many miles did you do in the CL and what's the cost per mile been?

Like the new motor mate, but that depreciation on the CL has to hurt!

Lovely car, but I don't think you'll be getting away from breakdowns and depreciation with an Aston! Am surprised you didn't get a 997 Turbo if this was the case? A CLS 6.3 didn't take your fancy - even without some Brabus input?

That said the Aston club is rather special - had the pleasure of being in a DB4 Zagato recently :).

Nice car! Hope the car is spec'ed with the £14k LINN sound upgrade, is sounds amazing.

£14k for a sound system in a car???????????

lurrvly car mate, lets see if it lives up to all the good points of the CL and some!

Hi Maff,
You buy motor cars simply because you enjoy them. We all envy you this and good luck to you.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures, if not hearing the noise.

Have a nice one.
John

About Time Matt ! You've been threatening to go forthe V8 Vantage for a while now. I'm glad you went for it.

Dont forget to remove fuse 22 in the boot that opens up the exhaust flap permanently !

For those that dont know - the exhaust has a flap to reduce noise at low speeds but, it automatically opens above 4000 rpm.

I saw a silver one outside my office a few weeks back and thought yup thats my next one ! pity I have to wait till MArch 07 before I can send back my SL350.

Beautiful car Maff - I'm sure it will be great fun!!

Good choice mate... enjoy, I hope to see it a GTG? soon...:)

More pics needed! :D

Congratulations - it's very, very nice. Prettier than a 997 Turbo without a doubt, but I always thought you valued sheer pace over looks?

Are you over the whole straightline performance thing, or do you know something we don't..? :D

Well done Maff, I was looking at a Vantage on holiday in Scotland and thought it was simply gorgeous. I look forward to the next GTG. When do you take delivery?

Any trips to Kent in the near future!
