i guess im going to have to start thinking with my head and not my balls, it just looked so sexy, cls, black amg pack 19* alloys etc lol

If its full Mercedes history get in touch with Mercedes head office at Milton Keynes who can verify.

it appears that merc serviced in 2007 2008 and 2009 but in 2010 and 2011 it was a local garage (average garage, no specilaist) this doesnt put me off. I am going to merc today to look at a c class as its i guess basic and works :( lol

but i am going to ask about this bearng issue. argghhhh so frustrating if it wasnt for this bearing issue id have bough the cls in a heartbeat.

OK I am a bit behind the times, but...

"HDD MAP NAVIGATION,4GB MUSIC REGISTER, SD CARD SLOT "

- in a 2006 car? this seems odd as my 2007 car did not have the HDD COMAND as that was only introduced as part of the facelift in 2008.

shes an idiot, she has just copied someone else description, I have just checked her pics and it doesnt have an sd card slot as i know this is usually located just above the cd slot

A local garage could be fine but it would be better if it were seen by a specialist.

i am going to go to mb today and ask them what their take is on this bearing issue and take a print out of the bulletin on the other thread.

^ Will be interestinhg to hear their view on it as 'sellers' with cars sat on the lot....

I'm sure it will be fine to them, no know issues etc..

well the cls is not from them so its up to them so either they can lie and i will know they are lieing and they can watch me walk across the road to bmw or tell me truth.
if they said to me yup its a known issue and this is how we deal with it, i would have gained some trust in them and buy the cls anyway so see how it goes

Sorry to have bust your bubble, it wasn't my intention!

Spoke to MB Oxford today who are arranging to take mine in a day or two, and they still say, despite me sending them a copy of the bulletin (!) , that it's not a known issue and they have never had a case of it!
I hope this is not a way of them getting out of covering the cost, although if they do that, hopefully the warranty I have with the supplying (Renault) dealer will cover it.

If not, I'll take the car back and either try to return it to the supplying dealer as I've only covered 200 miles, or part ex it somewhere else on a day it's not making the noise.

Sorry to say it, but I'm not prepared to cover the repair out of my pocket.

On the other hand, hopefully they'll sort it out. MB will pay and I'll keep it 'till the next problem occurs.... :wallbash:

Beginning to wonder why I like Mercs......

My main client owns a couple of Lexus dealerships, and whenever, on the rare occasion a customer has an issue, the dealers, and Lexus, can't do enough to help.

MB could learn a lot from them...

Just to calm your nerves;

A very good friend of mine works for Mercedes commercial as a head technician and I've shown him this thread and what his thoughts were.

In the four-five years that Mercedes have been putting the V6 CDi into their commercials, he has never once seen this problem. Ever.

They put through 60-100 job cards A DAY, so if there was this mass epidemic of this failing, he'd have seen this by now I'm sure.

So what would have caused it on mine and the few others we know about?

This is the thing, problems happen to Mercedes that simply don't happen to other makes, and even then MB do their level best wriggle free of warrenty claims.

All this from a premium brand...

id rather my bubble burst than my wallet empty :) thanks for the insight, its v helpful

ive had an update called a few merc specialists including PCS guys and they say it doesnt seem to affect the performance, economy etc of the car its just the noise is there and they havnt seen enough to warrent that it is a massive concern so what does this part of the engine do lol

does anyone hae a copy of the noise file, they seem to have disappeared when someone has uploaded it
