Meyle, Febi, random AliExpress.... I'd trust a used one of a scrap gearbox more, but not much to go wrong with a 5G conductor plate.

I'm having a slight problem with rough gear changes so new oil and plate hopefully will help.

Which car? If you have oil in the coolant reservoir the transmission is toasted

What mileage is the car on buddy ?
I take it that it is the 5g box ?
Has it had a gearbox service in its life ? If the black tab is in place on the black cap of the engine bay gearbox dipstick tube (rather than a red tab) it possibly hasn’t .
Gearbox service ideally is every 40k miles .
Change the gearbox electrical plug on the side above the sump when you do it , they leak oil .

74,000 miles, yeah 722.6 box.
I don't think its ever had an oil change ???
ive got oil (Mercedes branded) filter, genuine electrical plug and the conductor plate.
the gears change ok but every now and then going into 3rd you can feel it, its just not as smooth as an auto box should be. if after the oil change its still the same then i can get it sorted through the warranty.

What colour is the dipstick tube cap tab buddy ?

It’s been checked at least then , the factory tab is a black one . Fingers crossed it had a gearbox service .
I hope so but I can't be %100 sure  the oil is a bit dark but not black, and it does feel good.

If you have a warranty then I would go down that route first.

If you work on the transmission first and then try to claim on the warranty it may well be declined.
yeah thats probably the way BUT my issue is I don't trust anyone else to work on my cars if I can help it !!! no one ever touches my bikes except me. I'm sure the service will sort the gearbox out. its not that bad really just not as smooth as it should be.

Yeah I understand. Would usually rather break it myself.

FYI, transmission service doesn't usually fix any shift issues. Replacing the solenoid seals on the valve body while you replace the conductor plate will be the best course of action.

Must reset the tranny adaptations in the diagnostic system after this much work.

I don't think 74K on this gearbox is so scary,
but when you drop the old filter look for a date on it. That of course does assume that a filter would be replaced during an ATF service.

I would consider an ATF change, and flush of the TC.
If that does improve things I might think it reasonable to do an ATF change , with filter, in 10 -15K again.

yeah I generally do the oil and filter change and then do a further 2 changes later on.

do you mean the O rings on the solenoids ?

I have a box full of O rings so hopefully some will fit
Unsure if size is the only criteria here .

The material may be important as well?
