DIY Wheel refurb gone bad with WURTH

Looks a good job done there :thumb:

I used Wurth alloy wheel paint and lacquer on some second hand Alloys I bought for my Wifes 1 series to put winter tyres on, I have to say I thought the paint and lacquer was a good product and the finish lasted for the three winters the 1 series had them on . I did spend a lot of time though on the prepping .

I've used Wurth paint before also and had no issues either, in actual fact I think I've still have some. Wurth products in general seem to be well respected too. I reckon the OP may have been unlucky, very possibly the paint he got had been on the shelf for an abnormally long period and thus needed far more remixing than one would expect.

I guess you didn't read the thread. It was a new batch of paint.

Its true, I did try it on rucha alloys and the result was the same!

Well I've finally finished, was a lot more work than I expected and having to do one wheel twice didn't help, but I am happy with the results with the U-POL paint and clear coat.

The old girl is looking much better now!

The new Vredestein Sportrac 5 tyres on the rear have made a big difference as well, handles much better than it did.

Think I was probably just unlucky with the Wurth paint I got, as many people recommend it. Still waiting for my refund which is a pain.

Wurth have tested the paint and are saying its Ok and the seller is not giving me a refund. I don't care what they say I know that paint was poor.

This is from the woman at Wurth

"I have tested the cans this morning and I find nothing wrong with them, I used a new nozzle as well. I would therefore support my original
suspicions that the product was not at fault and it was down
to the application and also the cleaning of the nozzle and
inner delivery tube which cased the issues your customer has."

The paint was crap it had bits in it and would not cover evenly.

I'll contact eBay customer services torromow and trading standards if I have too.

I don't know how they have tested it? But to actually paint an alloy wheel and make it even half decent with that paint you'd need to be a bloody Rembrandt.

Perhaps it would be good for the SLK wheels after SWMBO gouged the nearside rims on a nearby kerb. The bits in the paint would help fill the gouges:doh::wallbash::mad:

It's a shame, but to be honest you may as well just let it go and chalk it to experience unfortunately. £xx worth of cans wasted, fair enough, but look at the wheels now and smile.

Also think f*** you to the original suppliers. :)

Yes would have to agree
Put it down as a bad experience and enjoy your own refurb wheel job

No.
744 is brilliant silver.
There is also Sterling Silver, and probably more.
