Hi

I'm thinking of doing a B service (175K miles) on my e class does anyone know what filters, oli etc that I will need?

I've been quoted to do the service between £159 ( kwik Fit) to about £300 by local MB dealer.

So I want to see how much I will saving doing it myself.

Dont take it to kwik fit !
I service my e320 cdi myself and put mobil 1 oil in it which costs me about 60£ with the discount i get with my halfrauds card for 2 tubs(10 litres ). My car holds about 8 and a half litres and the filters are about 20 quid or so for the air, fuel, and oil filters.
I would have thought that yours maybe slightly cheaper on parts than mine. I get the filters from german and swedish and they are mann filters and are the same as what i have got from the main dealers before just differernt box!

On a B service, the only filters that would be changed by mercedes would be the oil and pollen filter. They will also change the engine oil and replace the wiper blade. Anything else is extra. The B service is a more comprehensive set of checks rather than replacement.

If you do it yourself you will save yourself a fortune, and you can also additionally change the air filter and fuel filter (if required).

You will not be paying for labour and only parts.....the majority of the Mercedes B service cost is labour on doing checks. Also if you go to places such as Costco you can buy the oil much cheaper as well.

I find lately the service parts on these cars to be only very marginally more exp
ensive at the dealers, I think I paid around £60 for Oil/ Air /Fuel/ Prefuel Filters and sump Washer and Bosch Wiper blade. You'll want a 36mm Filter socket for the replacement of the oil filter. Piece of cake tip* DONT use small ramps they are completely unsuitable better a tallish kerb under the drivers side!
