E320 CDI (W211) - Nokia 6310i car kit

Just re-read that and it sounds a bit pretentious! Sorry. I'll PM you.

Ok ... I would like someone in the Telco game to come up with a "club" price for a 6310i

We could all delay the purchase of this handset and then at some given deadline commit to the sale and get a bulk pre-paid price.

The Nokia 6310i has been discontinued, the price of the handset will rise as the stocks fall but demand does not ! The Nokia CARK - 91 is the best selling car kit ever. To retro fit the Mercedes system is expensive the parts will cost in the region of £600 + VAT then labour etc. I would opt for having it done at the factory. The new nokia car kits are modular as in you buy a kit ( Control box, speaker mic) then the cradle to suit. The Nokia 6230 as in the replacement for the 6310i uses a NEW Nokia Bluetooth profile which enables the use of a new kit where the phone goes into a sleep mode and uses the power etc from the kit so as not to drain the battery as much and using an external aerial.

w211 phone connection

we can now connect most phones to your w211 that will work with steering controls our details can be found at: www.cat-essex.com

Definitely go the factory prefit route.
Think you should check out RobCLK's post

6310i is great, but would push the dealer to find out more about prefitted UHI & Bluetooth availability / functionality. That might avoid costly future upgrades. (I just paid MB, parts only, £238.50 to upgrade my PSE to go from 6210 > 6310i. Ouch!)
