E350cdi coupe remap / tuning

Thinking of getting my recently purchased E350 cdi coupe tuned / remapped.

Have used DMS in the past, although last time I used them for my CLK 320 cdi, they immobilised the engine and my 2 week old car had to be taken by transporter to the local dealership. Don't want a repeat.

Any recommendations?

thanks

Whats the milage on your car? should cover atleast 3 or 4K on the clock before you consider a re-map.

I personally would recoomend West-Tuning, I've used them about 4 times now and they are great.

My 2004 E320 CDi has had a west-tuning re-map, never had any problem or any faults on the computer!

plus they do it the right way.. rolling road before and after, unlike other companys who upload crap onto your ecu and make up figures..

As for DMS I personally think they are over priced.

West-tuning provide a custom ECU re-map, normally takes 4 hours to remap a car there but they give you a rental car to drive if your not willing to wait around...

Only 150miles I don't think you should re-map your car just yet!!

For reference, the newer CDi's - 350cdi included has the latest generation Bosch EDC17 ECU which very few folk can modify just now. If you can find someone with Kit to do these types of ECU's on the MBs then that's a good starting point as it's not cheap to buy so you know that you're dealing with someone serious about tuning!

Hope this helps.

Made some enquiries, it appears only DMS have worked on this ECU. Booked in for the 9th.

Won't this void your warranty?

How about the MB supported Brabus chip? You get to keep the warranty, albeit reduced to 60k miles

offtopic: Does anyone know if my 6/2008 CLK320cdi is using EDC17 or just EDC16?
Any way to see it on the ECU box?

Just wondering to which chiptunner I would go, depending on the ECU! :thumb:

Thanks

Really should be run in first  BUT, seeing as I have the same engine, keep us informed as I will probably do the same. (when it's got a few more miles on it, 1002 at the mo)

I have the same engine and am wondering what you guys have driven before as I think it has lots of power as standard. I know you always maybe want more but I tend to potter around on "C" mode and now and again press the sport button for utter fun.
Also I think Whitenemesis pointed out a good option of the Brabus chip, maybe something I will look into after a couple of years if I get bored of the stock power :p

Going to follow this thread as it looks interesting :D

If you do a Brabus chip then then the warranty changes, and they recomend only fitment within a time and mileage threshold from new.

Yup, within 18k miles (didn't know about time though?) and the warranty runs to 60k/3yrs only IIRC

ouch, just spoke to Merc, I thought they were about £600 but he said add on another 1k to that!?
I think I will leave it, like I said I am more than happy with the power the 350 produces after coming from a CLK270 :p

I have to say that given the amount of trouble being caused by the current crop of smaller Blue Efficiency CDI engines at the moment, I think you lot are brave in the extreme to consider any performance enhancements to these engines. IMHO, of course.

How can you hope to steer properly whilst keeping all of your fingers permanently crossed?

Come on Corned, live for today.............. Only one hand required for driving, we all drive auto's right? Other hand to be used for finger crossing etc

I think the 350cdi engine is basically the same as the 320cdi v6

Indeed - I believe you're quite right.

And that was my point; it's basically the same engine, but pushed that little bit further to the edge in performance terms. Just like the 220s and 250s...
