eBay road rage

hmm not happy with the racist words used within this thread, think the mods should take a look....

I think you'll find the 'racist' word was not used as such but was the postal code used by the numpty referred to in the OP.

If the Mods thought it racist, it would have been corrected very quickly.

If you have a problem with it (and I don't blame you!) then feel free contact the Mods :thumb:

How can banter between Yorkshiremen be racist? :dk: I think you need to stick to driving your 'SLS'

Me Racist ??

Especially for you Kimble if I was in anyway racist would I travel at my own expense three times a year to Kalifi in Kenya where I visit orphanages and donate food clothing pens and books to kids who have lost one or both parents to AIDs ? And all this comes out of mine and the Mrs own pockets.

Perhaps before making blatant adverse comments you should take time and read the whole post first.

The picture below is me with 2 of the kids whom I have regular contact with and given the chance would adopt tomorrow.:thumb:

And his mouth was shut!

Quite right too - a member with 2 posts getting on their high horse without a clue/ bothering to find out what the OP was. Farcical morality if ever I've seen it!

Good on you Andi...

Why the animosity and defensive behaviour? All I did was point out that a word printed within this thread is not deemed acceptable in this politically correct time. I'm not suggesting anyone is racist, just pointing out that the word itself could cause offence to some people.
I thought forums and mods have a moral obligation to ensure words like the one used earlier were not seen in print. I would hate for the wrong poeple to view it and subsequently have the forum shut down. It does happen...

I'm not suggesting the poster is in any way racist, I am just pointing out the word itself could be deemed that way. I was not aware that you ha to have x number of posts before you could have a opinion sorry about that

Commendable work, but would you send an email using the word in the post above, I think not. A word is racist or offensive IF someone other than the person using it finds it offensive/racist. I'm not in any way suggesting you are racist but would suggest you are more careful as I personally do not like to see that word in print and do find it offensive. The use of an offensive word is not permitted in this day and age and people have been charged with an offense for less...(I should know, I have my own law firm and have come accross cases similar to this recently)

The thing is, you obviously can't read.

It wasn't a word, it was a collection of letters and numbers that were being used in a fake postcode, the fact that you SAW an offensive word is your problem. I mean I see Klingon battleships in the clouds every so often... But I realise that they are cloud formations... I don't go phoning the RAF and report of impending attack.

And if you really are offended by a collection of letters and numbers masquerading as post codes can I only suggest pressing the big cross
In the top right corner will ease your worries.

Not a nice word I agree but I think the word was used as a postcode by the non paying bidder so its use in the thread shouldnt really be worthy of moderation.

Thanks for giving it consideration, the fact it was used as a postcode does not make the use of the word acceptable because of its implied meaning. I accept your judgement in this instance as I am a newbie and don't want to rock the boat too much....:thumb:

Oh incidentally Sir Douglas Bader had a dog by that name.

Pointless fact.

I think everyone agrees that the use of that word is very ugly and unpleasant - hence the reason why it was highlighted.

Clearly anyone using that word instead of a postcode on their ebay account is not the type of character any of us would choose to do business with.

You and I both know the implied meaning of the collection of letters and numbers. I saw an offensive word, therefore, it is offensive. I am surprised by your lack of respect/understanding of the law surrounding this highy publicised area.

Not sure about the Klingon comment, perhaps you should get your eyes tested or seek medical assistance:D

Mate I'll be honest I couldn't give a flying, really couldn't... The word doesn't offend me, it's a word that is used colloquially to distinguish a race, and variations of this type of thing are all over, the word cockney is a derogatory term historically, as is limey or yank.

And apparently calling a Frenchman a frog or cheese eating surrender monkey isn't right either.

But at the end of the day it's a word. And that doesn't offend me.

The people that use the word? They don't offend me.

I understand that at any point I can stop reading, I can switch off a tv or I can walk away, I'm not offended because I choose not to be.

People who get offended and make a big deal of it, they just make me wonder why they can't do the same.

This will run and run,we all have our opinions, doesnt make them right or wrong !
Is it fair to say some people from an ethnic minority would find it offensive
if the answer is yes REMOVE it
if the answer is no move on!!
Kimble youre post count is rising fast,on a good note

>Lance

I think one does needs to appreciate the rather valid sensitivities surrounding the use of this word and the offence it may cause despite the fact that its use in this thread was not out of context.
