I'm not even considering an engine mod as Scumbag couldn't keep up in Oxfordshire anyway  - but if I was, which I'm not - then would my 7G box be any the wiser? Or would that need upgrading too?

I would expect it to sense the extra torque and hold a higher gear for longer before changing down.

Because the gearbox ECU senses the accellerator position and the torque of passed through to the gearbox.

buy a V8 and have done with it...go on. you know you want to!

looking at the new SL they do, as an option, the AMG spec upgrade on the 7GTronic gearbox. this reduces the amount of time it take for the gear to change. and the 'box is fitted in the one with 530NM of torque. so if you had it fiddled with, if it doesn't go over that, it will work. i notice it is still not in the larger power ones yet! matter of time tho i think. Brabus can strengthen some bits and peices in it for some of their options. costs tho.

and it wont help the noise.

PS. we not only could keep up, we had a proper drive instead of just hiking straight into a pub. but thats the advantage of listening to country noises.

PPS we got lost too. 2 of us with sat navs! and how many programmed the destination......none! at least we knew to the nearest 3mtrs exactly where were lost at!

a V8CDI maybe :D
Good point on the 7G limit. At last I have an excuse not to do it.
