Good on the OP, be it fat, thin, male, female, opinionated uneducated people mouthing off to you when totally un provoked, and when just going on one's life's duties, minding one's own business, would have loved to see a video of this post, (appreciate it's not there), all kudos to OP, would have reacted exactly the same should I have been there in the same senario..people!

I'm a polyamourous ethically non-monagmous bisexual cross dressing swinger - you going to judge me on my choices?

l‘m guessing that not many on here are qualified to comment. 😁

**** me old brown boots this thread is a right wrong ‘un.

Whilst I agree that she was commenting on something she knew nothing about, I don't think fat shaming her was required - I don't think shaming anybody for anything is required. A better approach would have been to question her knowledge on greyhounds and have an intelligent argument with her rather than completely knocking all of the confidence out of her and effectively bullying her. For all you know that might have been the first time she'd had the courage to get on a horse, you knew nothing about her in the same way she knew nothing about greyhounds.
OMG......here we go. People being offended on the behalf of others and tut tutting.

She started the bullying from high up on her horse looking down her nose at people. Should have kept her fat mouth shut and her day would have been peaceful..

FWIW most horses that are out in the cold have “horse blankets” she was completely out of order.

I’m not judging the riding fraternity “but” - I lived in an area which was referred to as “the mink and manure belt” - rich people with lots of recreational horses. People on horses there seemed to think that they were better than the rest of us mere mortals. Most commonly spotted in upmarket shopping malls in their jods & riding boots and not actually on their horses.

I still don't think that body shaming her was the way to go, that came from pure anger and not thinking and was a knee jerk reaction. Shaming anybody for anything is out of order as far as I'm concerned. How would you like it if somebody shamed you for how you look, things you do or the life you lead? You never fully know somebody's situation unless you're very close to them - you know of this person and her reputation but you don't actually know her. How would you feel if she'd gone home and slashed her wrists because of your shaming?
Tut-tutt............

He was minding his own business...She started - 'If you cannot take the heat - get out of the kitchen'.

Why was she shaming him about the way he cares for his dogs?

Perhaps he has all sorts of stress around the care of his dogs and her comments were the last straw. What if the op went home and slit his wrists?

Do you see how we can take this ‘wokeness’ to all sorts of different levels...........

It may not have been clear but when I said I saw red and did the "poking" I was not actually aggressive in slightest, I was actually quite calm but others can describe aggression however they like. Looking back I do not regret what I did , I could quite easily done a lot worse. If other people want turn turn the other cheek that is their prerogative.

As a side note, we have very many horses trotting up and down my road and generally there are no issues whatsoever, most of the riders are friendly and cars generally slow down and give a wide berth apart from the odd entitled mercedes driving pricks :)
Some of the riding fraternity here seem to think they own the place --- riding along public right of way dropping horse $h1t in the paths. There is a small wooden pedestrian bridge that is constantly being repaired because people ride across it.

Seriously dude, not every fat person is lazy and greedy - you have no idea if she is fat because she ate all the pies or fat because she has a thyroid condition for example. It's not necessarily her choice and that should not be assumed. Even if you are just fat because you like eating pies and don't care about the associated health risks that is no reason for somebody to judge you, it's your choice which should be respected.
You know as well as I do that 99.9 percent of over weight folks have no health issues that affect their weight at all....and about half the rest are lying when they say they do. It's lack of will power, self restraint and self respect that do it. I bet if you offered most of them the chance to be slim tomorrow with no effort they would jump at the chance.....proving that being fat is not really how they want to be. I love chocolate and fast/takeaway food as much as the next man....and I do put on weight because of it.....but when I start to notice it I do something about it....usually eat less and run.....but I'm recovering from knee surgery at the moment....so no running for me. I feel fat and uncomfortable when I'm a stone over weight.....so no one is going to convince me that anyone is really happy and comfortable to be 5 stone over weight....struggling to move and puffing with any real physical effort. And when I'm paying for their health care when they end up in hospital due to the strain on their heart or other issues that gives me the right to have my opinion.
But obviously if they really are happy being morbidly obese (which is fat enough to be actually causing harm to their bodies and its organs....with for most people is about only 5 to 6 stone overweight)....that of course that their right......but I bet if they were honest that would be a very tiny number indeed!

Indeed and the reverse is the truth - their weight affects their health.

Not seen her for since, perhaps she is now taking a different route ? Even if I do I can't really be ****d with any more confrontations, so most likely if I see her I will go the other way because I'm pretty sure she will not be able to resist adding further comments.

But the big but is !!!!!

If her weasel husband sees my Wife walking the dogs and starts on her then there will be trouble.

Actually I know for a fact that isn't true - I know more overweight people who want to lose weight and have a lot of trouble doing so than I do overweight people in general. I also know a lot of overweight people who are happy as they are and it's their choice which shouldn't be judged.

I'm not defending this woman's actions at all, she doesn't seem very nice. I just don't agree that the correct response involved dropping to her level, swearing and insulting her about her size and I've been giving my reasons as to why I think that. Far too many people react to criticism with insults rather than conversation or simply ignoring it, it makes me somewhat sad the way society is like this.

I get criticised all the time as I'm open about my lifestyle, but I don't let small minded people looking for something to pick on as they have nothing else in their lives to keep them busy get to me. I rise above it and continue to enjoy my life, they're just not worth it.

This is not a fat bashing or horse rider bashing thread.

Its a discussion on a appropriate response to a unwarranted verbal attack.

My standpoint is, if you can't take the consequences don't put yourself in that situation. Simples. The fat bit is completely irrelevant to me.
