Favourite wheels

Yikes. What a blast from the past. I fitted a Moss to my first car in 1990. An 83 reg Black MG Metro.

Didn’t work very well as it got stolen from Deansgate in Manchester never to be Sean again. 😣

I should have opted for the Phoenix Nights Edition. ‘Get back ya Ba#%*rds, I’ll break ya legs!!!’
Ditto. Had one on my Mk 1 Ford Fester (1.1 HC Ghia no less!)
The scanning "Nightrider" LEDs on the ultrasonic unit were the height of cool (or at least I thought they were)

Mrs D had one of the very first phones upon which you could use your own sound file as an alert. Naturally I used that sound clip. I also did one for Black Bin Bags.

Brings back some memories, I used to have one exact same colour and wheels. It had a Moss Alarm system and I thought it was cool at that time. Something like this, was popular for its time.

Crikey once ubiquitous, now a true rarity. They were were the go to alarm for a sporty car.

I had a Laserline alarm fitted to my first car in 1993. At the time it was relatively advanced for the money, fitted by Halfords for £150 and they did a cracking job too.

I always wanted a Clifford alarm and in 1999 I finally had one fitted, and if I remember r right that was £550 and had proximity sensors to detect if people came close to the car.

I was so proud of that alarm!

I had a Scorpion fitted to my Cavalier which added remote locking which was a real novelty at the time

I remember a magazine article by one Jeremy Clarkson (before he was on the telly), where he moaned about constantly having the stereos from his car stolen. So he fitted an expensive alarm, and then that got stolen because it was worth more than the stereo. Knowing what we know now about Jeremy's 'hyperbolic' turn of phrase, I suspect it was a made up story, but it made me laugh at the time.

I dont have any pics of the MK2 golf gti it was 1990 😳 these were nice but a pain to keep clean

Clifford was flagship back then and still is now, very robust, respected and a reliable alarm system but has to be topped up with Smart Track to complete with newer smart alarms on the market. Love the 6 tone siren too and the blue flashing dashboard detergent 🙂

I hadn’t realised they were still a thing. If I remember right mine was a Concept 50 and came with a carbon fibre effect multi button remote. I think it was the poshest thing I’ve ever had!

Edited to add: Here it is!

Edited to added again: Fitted to this car

Edited to add yet again: I think that’s the Clifford sticker in the rear quarter window!

I really really wanted a big bumper 16v in Oak Green, but I also loved Atlas Grey (?) and Helios Blue (?) with the tinted rear lights. Such handsome cars.
Bought and sold quite a few M2’s in numerous colours this one my most sadly missed, terrific car …..IMG_7289.jpeg

Such a handsome car. Your previous post and photo had me teetering on the precipice of a very steep and slippery slope earlier, as I thought to myself I wonder how much…

…and then lost half an hour on eBay. I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment - and I’m unable to indulge my love of driving - so it’s a dangerous time to be inspired by tasty metal!

The Ed1 G60 in the first post was and is still a very rare vehicle. Made in LHD only for the German market it was a lucky buy for me from a very disgruntled (divorce) seller in Derby. Incredibly modern drive, supercharged , A/C, power steering, electric Recaro seats, electric windows and finished in Dark Burgundy Pearl it was a real looker. This one is somewhat near if needing some finishing.
