I plan to fit mine exactly like pnsji, but without the remote.

How did you wire it up to the electrical system?

You just know you want to do it the oem/koolvin way.  After a few minutes any car can look like this:

</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

It would always look like that if I did it. I have a gift for taking things to pieces.  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

But I always have big bits left over when I try and put them back together. Worrying.  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Ragar Detectors

i am interested in buying a radar detector, but can't decide whether to buy a Bell 550, a GPS device such as Road angel or the new Combination by Snooper.

I am not sure which system i would benefit the most from. The Bel will pick the Speed guns but the GPS ones can inform on Specs cams.

The combi sounds ideal but is £500 plus installation and it the first combi on the market.

I have been offered the Bel for around £300

What are your thoughts??

I believe most "guns" these days are laser devices which although detectable, it's a bit hit and miss and any alert is likely to be that you have just been nicked!

GPS gives you SPECS, Truvelo forward facing GATSo's (the blue ones) +more

Check out the GPS device comparison guide at www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk

The choice is yours.

You could install a Laser jammer into your car . They are very effective and are not illegal.

Its not againsed the law to bend the light or block it. what is againsed the law is perverting the course of justace.

Undetectable as long as you don't use it stupidly.

I don't have one , but , would ahve no objections of using one..

I've got a valentine 1 mounted just below rvw with remote on my phone console, plus a geodesy - carved up so I have a remote display below my v1 dsplay and a pair of Snooper laser diffusers monted under front number plate with led & buzzer hidden near front a pillar all on my E55

Fitting Radar detector

You should be able to get the power from somewhere in the interior lamp assembly.

I managed this by prodding around with a sharp DVM probe on my 320CE. Then just use Scotch-locs to pick-up the power.

That way the installation looks neat with only about 2 inches of wire showing, and if you pick the right wire, it switches off with the ignition.

Or iof you get the wrong one the radar detector will come on when you open and close the doors ..... :D

Don't do it like the S-Class I 've just seen in Tesco's car park.

Radar detector and a GPS (Road Angel I think) suction cuped to windscreen, with long cable running the GPS antenna to the rear door, where it went out pinched throught the door rubber and was magnetised to the roof!

I hope this was either a test rig up, or a company car driver who is changing vehicle soon
