fixing a failed injector seat and bolt

I'm not on a wind up?? never worked on a vito, seals missing, copper set washer missing a right mess, some advice would be nice and helpful being a forum

Can't really see from your picture if the washer is still down there.
Is it stuck to the end of the injector?
Go to MB for your copper washers and tell them your problem.
They may offer some good advice to fix the problem?
Maybe?

Have u a link to the rubber seals because they are missing also?

How do you know they are missing you still have the cam cover on

What width are the copper washers?

The same as the end of the injector body.

Take it to a workshop you could end up in more mess if you don't understand what you are doing, as you seem not to read properly or take good advice already given here.

Yea I'm having a bad day too......

I think your on a wind up ........ I'm out.

I was thinking the same thing

You have been given a lot of good advice on this thread, even though there are lots of black death threads with most of your questions answered. I may be wrong but some of your answers seem a bit abrupt. Yes it is a forum which also has a thanks button which you haven't been bothered to use once. Posting asking for a step by step guide for something that has lots of info on the forum shows you don't seem to feel the need to search. When you then get stuck, people will post and help, but help yourself first please. If you really are that stuck that you need all those questions answering then maybe you shouldn't tackle this yourself as it can go expensively wrong.

I too am having a bad day.

Good luck

NO.

Go to your local Mercedes dealer and buy a new injector seal and retaining bolt.

The seat needs re-cutting too.

Thinking about it you sound like that you are struggling with this. I'm not being nasty, I just don't think you have the skills by what you have written already. I would take it to someone with the knowledge to do this work properly. If you mess it up its going to cost you a fortune.

What is wrong with asking for specs? For those who want it, washer is 15mm across 7.8 mm hole, 1.55mm thick. When im asking advice on an MB forum i dont need telling,

"your an idiot, go to MB and skin yourself.."

I believe thats not what this forum is for...

Ready to insert the injector, do i lubricate the shaft in any way so it sits correctly once tapped in?

Yes thats it hammer it in there...............FFS

X*^%$£$^&**

If the hole and injector are cleaned correctly there's no hitting the injector to get it in it, it falls in there with no resistance.

There's a special grease from Mercedes that you need to use on the injector body and the retaining bolt threads.

And I'm having a good day...........

Ahh cool your jets lads ! Nothing lost if someone asks advice and then chooses their own path. It seems that this repair will be one of those things that the next repair man hates to find.

As the last comment said it should go in with zero force. Any hammering on the seal will most likely distort it and will shorten the time before you have to repair it again. So for now make sure the hole is clean and the seal in place. It should be lubricated with mb grease but press on anyway if you dont have it. It will need removing again before the injector can seize in place anyway. Try to torque the stretch bolt if thats what you got, if not then make it as tight as you can. Run the engine before replacing all the top covers etc to make sure no diesel is leaking from pipes etc. Don't expect a permanent repair of this as it sounds like you haven't followed all steps correctly. But fingers crossed it works and you dont have to come back asking why it didn't work out as planned.
Take your time and be cool.

I have just had a snapped bolt removed from my engine, it looks like whoever worked on it previously re-used the bolts. I have been told that new bolts need to be tightened down to 8 nm, then 2 x 180 degree turns, can anyone confirm this please.

sorry should have said which bolt I meant.................der!
One of the injector clamp retaining bolts.
