So the ’overtaking under the safety car’ protest has been rejected.
I agree, it would have been harsh to penalise Max for the ‘passing under safety car’ thing.Even under normal circumstances that would have been a harsh penalty given the jostling.
The real test is the handling of regulations. So let's see where that goes. If they let these shenanigans stand then that raises questions of ethos and integrity of F1 itself.
The FIA were hardly likely to uphold MB's protests and take away the title from Max.

The FIA were hardly likely to uphold MB's protests and take away the title from Max.
To do that would be admitting they were wrong.
Well, if the FIA aren’t going to comply with their own rules, why should anyone else? The FIA were hardly likely to uphold MB's protests and take away the title from Max.

Except Ferrari are F1 and F1 is Ferrari. We've had that implicit threat suggested for Ferrari over the years ....
My view is that if any major team wants to pull out for reasons of sporting petulance then it's not a long term loss to the sport.
If Red Bull pulled out they'd be forgotten quickly. That's the nature of things.
If Masi does not resign, he should be fired for bringing the sport into disrepute.
The race director (Masi) negotiating restart positions with a team (Red Bull last week) has been a new low for me. He allowed himself to be bullied into making the wrong decision today. They also need to block off the teams from lobbying the race director.
F1 is purely marketing/advertising for them.
Ferrari get paid an appearance fee that none of the other teams recieve because their presence is so important to the Formula.I have argued that Ferrari need F1 more than F1 needs Ferrari because F1 is even more important for marketing and brand image to Ferrari than any other team.

He should make a decision and share that with teams. It should not be ‘my best offer’.I actually thought that wasn't bad - on the basis that the option of giving back positions on track had been messed up by the red flag - and that this was a bit of pragmatism by the race director. The only concern really was the confusing nature of the start of the dialogue (or negotiation?).
Both of them. See you in court me thinksSo Mercedes protest has been rejected…

I get the feeling that none of this is new. In so much as it's been going on for decades. It's just now broadcast. They also need to block off the teams from lobbying the race director during the race.
