Formula One 2018 - General Thread

Maybe sales of RED BULL are down in Russia? We often forget the cars are very rapidly moving advertising hoardings.;)

Red Bull/TR don't really have a driver in the lower categories that is ready for F1. Kvyat is their safe option for a year and he does have the potential as he did make it to the 'A' team (Red Bull). I just hope he has matured a bit and doesn't cause collisions like he did before or his F1 career is definitely over. Brendan Hartley has struggled immensely this year and I would be surprised if he keeps the other seat.

Awwwwwwwkward... perhaps sums it up. Won't say more till the Channel 4 highlights tonight at 6.45pm

If members enter this thread Graeme they should be prepared to see the result? ;)

Awkward indeed but makes sense. I doubt Ferrari or Red Bull would have done any differently. We’ll only know if it was necessary after the last race.

Having said all that I really feel for VB. He totally deserved the race win.

Loved seeing MV and was excited at the prospect of his last 10 or so laps on the US tyres. Amazed to see him fall away from Kimi. :dk:

Overall an good race given previous years in Sochi.

VB looked gutted taking one for the team. LH now 50 points clear.

Did SV ignore Putin in the cool down room?

Am I correct in thinking Ferrari's form returning to 'normal' coincided with their visit to the headmaster's office explaining their magical hybrid system?

As far as I can recall it was declared legal but they haven't been the same since

THINK THIS WAS POSTED BEFORE but what I hadn't noticed was the short statemnt at the beginning about Mercedes poaching one of Ferrari's engineers possibly implying that Mercedes may have improved by getting their hands on Ferrari tech rather than Ferrari going backwards performance wise so to speak ?

Awkward indeed. Well done Mercedes for ruining the atmosphere of the race win. Was it really necessary with Hamilton so far ahead on points.

At first I thought the same but if look at MB's point of view, with only 3 engines allowed they could still have a failure and/or a DNF (or two). If Bottas was closer in the championship it would not have happened. Earlier on in the season they did give the place back to Bottas even though he was behind in the championship but then I guess they would have been playing favourites and had a definitive no.1 and no.2

Plus they know Bottas wants his contract to be renewed in the future and so he needs to do as he is told otherwise it will probably go to Ocon
