Baldguy, I would also like to add my voice to those who are asking you to reconsider.I am only a newbie here,but I have always enjoyed your posts.

It only took me a fairly short time on here to get to know which members to look out for and to read with interest.

I do know how you feel though. I have been a member over on the 190 Forum for some years now.Sadly I have seen it happen over there too.

New members would come along and create problems, create stupid and inane arguements.This would result in some of the older,more respected members leaving through frustration etc.


So a lot of idiots chased away lots of our best members,sad.That forum has suffered because of this sort of thing.



Do reconsider.

Please don't leave BaldGuy. The old school folk who i remember and respect such as yourself from way back are getting thin on the ground now mate!
The site needs peeps like you to to help keep the forum what it is mate.

I know exactly where your coming from. As well as being an old hand here i am also an old hand over on the 190 forum and have been so since it was born and have seen the place change so much over the years. I am now an admin over there!! Forums morph and change as they grow. What was once acceptable is no longer so as the forums grow, attitudes change over the years, etc etc.

What i have realised is that we simply have to morph and grow with the forums. What was once a small cosy place is now a massive multinational meeting zone and some things just may not be as acceptable as much as they once were as sad as that may be

The mods and admin now have so much more work to do as opposed to back in the early noughties. I can assure you it aint an easy job mate. And we/they all do it for free simply out of the love of the marque.

OK sorry, i went off the track a bit there

All im trying to say is, don't go BaldGuy simply because of some moderation. im sure all the mod and admin team would hate to see you leave just as much as all of us would mate.

This Forum was once a Great Place to be and I have lots of good memories of the few who started it like you Baldguy. Now the Forum is getting very big and difficult to Moderate, as some new people come here just to cause trouble, which makes the Mods/Admins life hell. They are not true MB lovers just trouble-makers and we have to step in and get rid of them, which sometimes makes us unpopular.

I would hope that my moderation is not the only reason you are going, as this would upset me considerably. Please reconsider mate.

I've had a great time on this forum over the last few years - have made some good friends, learnt stuff, passed on some of my own knowledge, been helped, helped others, saved money, made an investment in art (thanks to R2D2's daughter) and had laughs. In short this forum added a facet to my life but did not take anything away.

Sure there are some we disagree with - but isn't that a reflection of normal life? Hell, it is better as on here there is an 'ignore' button - a bit more difficult to do that in real life!

My final thought? Come back BaldGuy as us slapheads need to stay together!

Your post Baldguy indicates that you wish to leave for several reasons. I, and I suspect everyone else respects your reasons for not wanting to share whatever they are.
Most have guessed rightly or wrongly that a moderated thread contributed to your decision.
If this is true I'm glad to note that Brian WH has been big enough to explain and express some regret.
Like most people here I tend to guess usually accurately (well most times) as to the strength of mind and character of contributors from their posts. The keyboard has a lot to answer for as the written word once posted over the internet can be like broken eggs, once posted can hardly be retrieved but other words can be written to seek to ameliorate the situation. This hopefully deals with one of your reasons for wanting to leave.

I hope the other reasons are not things like - been here too long, need to graze in patures new; or its just not the same place anymore.
At just under 3000 posts you haven't been here long enough to wish to leave now.

So the gist of my wordy sermon (why use 30 words when 300 would do?) you are much valued here, and by all counts by the Moderators too, and old faithfuls coming out of the woodwork to inform you they are still here.

Bottomline..your strength of character indicates that you are much bigger than a situation created by written words.

So c'mon Baldy (said in the sweetest possible way) sleep on it and make the right decision in the morning i.e.....Sstaay!!
