GTG on Sunday 14 May 2006...

Some great shots there but gotta say as the others have, the SEC has it - still looks great after all these years.

The pictures look really good especially the AA van, thanks for capturing the moment.

Have you had any further issues since having your car at the specialists??

So gutted i couldn't make it. Looks like you all had a great time.
I dropped hints to the guests we had over that I had really wanted to go to a GTG but no one seemed to get it. They just looked at me kind of wierd that i was even thinking of driving to a car park to stand around with a bunch of people looking at cars...some people ;-)

Until the next one then.

Well blow me if German craftmanship didn't let me down again today. I think my car has a sensor to find the most embarrasing places to break down. Today, exactly the same problem as at the GTG. This time much to the amusement of everyone at a sales meeting.

The specialist says the fault must be present for them to diagnose it, but the AA won't tow me to the garage unless they have tried to fix and then can't. However, if they always dis/re-connect the battery it will always start. Catch 22. I've tried to explain that it will save them money in the long run by taking me to the garage rather than having to come out every other day, but they didn't seem at all interested. So unless I can get the AA bloke to not dis/re-connect the battery and take me to the garage instead I'm stuffed.

I'm convinced that it is an immoboliser issue now but strange thing is that the engine acually turns/cranks upon turn of the key though...

I'd put my money on the crankshaft sensor. These little buggers are notorious for not showing up on diagnostics! Basically the car won't start and can cut out at any point. I would change that first.

What a cracking turn out!

KLP, have to say again that the sec is just amazing. Defo a labour of love there and a gem of a motor! Get in a magazine!

Have to get myself to one of these events soon... when i get myself an mb again!

Third time's a charm. Wouldn't start again today but got the AA to take the car into Autotechnic (Merc Specialists) with the fault on it. Just waiting for the verdict. I'll let you know what they say. It may benefit some other unfortunate soul.

Question for KLP and I missed a good one by the looks of it.

Looks like a good gtg I missed there.

Nice to see another W140, the V12 looks a monster, I like the 190 Cossie as well.

Question for KLP - where did you get the steering wheel on your SEC? One of those would look great on my car. Your coupe looks bad to the bone by the way.

One quick pic - had to edit it ad it was showing someone's number plate (I think) - credit to Ben :)

Agriff - Good luck with the diagnosis - I'm sure it's bugging us all now?

Will

Yeah I heard it was great "fun" for you guys ;) and wish that we could have done the cruise all together rather then going in two separte convoys...:D

BUT I cant complain too much as all the AMGs came down in the first mini convoy to the Harvester...

missed a good GTG, hopefully i`ll see the remaining ppl who I havent met yet at the next GTG. nice mota KLP ultimate gangsta ride of the 80`s :)
