GTG on Sunday 14 May 2006...

OK I have had no response/reply from Subyland yet in relation to the venue being held in Bucks from my PM.

Time is ticking away and we need to start sorting out the venue/meeting place and unless we start to sort things out now then nothing is going to get done, so therefore, in my opinion we are probably better of keeping the venue within Berkshire as originally planned (I don’t know the Bucks area very well at all for organising/selecting a possible venue) unless someone can help find a venue/location in Bucks???

I will post suggestions for the venue in Berkshire sometime later on as we now potentially have a “BIGGER” crowd than I had anticipated (which is nice) that may possibly be attending so I need to make some enquires to where we can hold the GTG and leave our cars parked where they will be safe. However, in the mean time if anyone knows of any potential venues/meeting points in Berkshire that will be suitable for the number of members possibly attending then please feel free to suggest them…
 
Unfortunately, I don't know Bucks that well but there must be some suitable venue around Hemel Hempstead/St Albans. May be some other members can help ?? I had a quick look on the web and found a couple of hotels that might be ok: The Watermill in Hemel and the Ramada Hemel Hempstead.

I misread the date 14th May , had it in my head it was the 14th April ,i went to the in-laws on the 14th April .... :rolleyes:

I shall try and book it off work on Monday, there is a much better chance of me being able to make this now ! :bannana:

I made some more equiries today at a posisble venue in Windsor but parking was a slight issue at this place... :mad: I should have come up with a suitable place/venue hopefully by this w/end BUT please feel free to suggest some other suitable venues in the mean time...

Could use our warehouse car park in Maidenhead, has approx 35 car park spaces and is right next to Junction 8/9 of the M4 ?

Would have to bring your own refreshments mind, or visit a local pub a bit later on.

Just a thought...
 
Might have to pull out of this one, unfortunately. I've just been called up for a weekends hooliganism at Shelsey Walsh. I'll check the exact timings, see if I can still make it.

Sounds like a great idea Maff... :) I have approached Copthorne Hotel in Slough and they seemed "ok" with the GTG but their car park is like a "basement" multi storey car park and I dont think that would be a nice open plan venue as your place/car park Maff. Hopefully, the sun shall be shining too (fingers crossed) on 14th May rather then being couped up inside a dark basement car park lit up with lighting.

Bringing some of our own small "refreshments" and then visiting the "pub" both sound like a good idea and will also give us the opportunity to do a “mini cruise” together... :)

However, if anyone else can find/arrange the GTG at another venue because they are not happy with the location of the venue at Maidenhead then please say so soon otherwise we will go along with Maff’s venue which he has very kindly suggested…???

Is everyone ok with the venue being at Maff’s place in Maidenhead (Berkshire) ???

Both the Copthorne and the Courtyard have got part of their car park underground...:(

I know mate... I did not like the Country Yard hotel as much as the Copthorne one. I was also thinking of the Radison Edwardian Hotel by Heathrow Airport A4 Bath Road which has a huge car park at the back and normally has a lot of vacant spaces on a Sunday but that would come under a different area/county even though it is very close to Slough BUT food/drinks are a "rip off" at this place and the bar area is not that big. There were a number of venues at Windsor BUT parking was the biggest issue... :mad:

On a positive note though during next week I am going to contact “Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine” and inform them of our GTG and will see if they are interested in doing a write up of our GTG in one of their editions and will hopefully get our MB Club Forum publicised if they send one of their reporters’ down… :)
 
Matts car park is sounding good .......

No worries with hotel guests, or anything like that as i'm sure Grav will want to rev the pants off his E55 ..... :rolleyes:

Plus we can barbeque without risk of annoying anyone ....

Like the idea of ME coming down ......
