HELP: Rough gear changes in 7-speed box

Earlier this year, I replaced my 08 CLK 350 sport cab which I had from new with a 57 AMG CLK 63 cab. One of the first things I noticed was a rough auto downshift from 2nd to 1st when cold. My old transmission was as smooth as anything, even though I keep it in manual most of the time.

After some enthusiastic driving on country roads in Wales, the roughness now occurs downshifting from 5th to 4th even when fully warm (whether manual or auto).

I took the car in for service recently and the tramission oil change (due at 37k miles) had not been done by 47k miles. I had the oil changed and asked the dealer to check the sotfware.

Despite new oil and confirmation that I have the latest software and having put a few hundred miles on the car, the problem still exists.

Has anyone any suggestions, please?

Can't help too much other to say ... rough auto downshift from 2nd to 1st when cold is a common complaint.

Very common complaint.

Quite often a new valve body sorts it. But for £1500 people tend to put up with it.

My Sl63 (in C, S or S+) only drops into first when I'm virtually stopped. Seems unusual to shift down to what is a very short gear. Not sure if yours has the same wet clutch setup, but I presume it does.

Haven't noticed any funnies other than sometimes when it's cold, taking away from standstill can be a tiny bit jerky
