Those are R230 SLs ... they don't have back seats. The link you posted originally was about the previous shape R129 SL (as per my signature), which does (usually) have rear seats.

clk is the way to go as a "family" car, that's why a i bought one.
That said it also helps having the 32 as the selfish alternative if you just want to go and have an out and out blatt

An early 230 SL could be a very high maintanence prospect, I'd go with a CLK thats a bit newer. Maybe a CLK500 as well.

Well at least there is one constant in your plan - a thumping great V8.
The earlier 500 5.0 V8 motor is great, the newer 500 5.5 V8 even better, the 5.5 AMG's better still.
You can't go wrong.
